My parents won't let me play an instrument?

The problem is that my parents don't allow me to play any instrument... because in middle school because I couldn't be successful in music class because of my teacher.

I want to play oud or djembe. I think I will be successful in playing djembe because I took darbuka lessons in primary school and I was very good at it. How can I persuade them? please help me.
