Anonymous(30-35)+1 yASTHMA... I had it for years and worked with an allergist you should see one. I am pretty sure an allergist will be able to see you (sometimes they do free checkups). Also primary doctors when you see them they do give you samples of inhalers. Their are also free clinics that should be in every where you need to see one. This can kill you please do even if you need to ask another family member or a good friends parent.
04 Reply- +1 y
Where I live you have to be recommended to anyone like that.
- +1 y
I can't ask any family members because my family lives in Tennessee and California and I live in Alabama.
Opinion Owner+1 yYou can go to a clinic if you do not have insurance. If you have insurance you can see a physician at an office and they can give you a referral to see an allergist or the physician can help you during your visit. because you are under 18 you need someone older than you to help fill out paper work and to be there with you. Friends families probably can help. do you have any friends that have parents who will not mind in helping you. or someone who is older and responsible.

I juat got done talking to my parents again and they said that I could go to the doctor but if they say that nothing is wrong then I have to pay for it

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yAre you experiencing any pain in your chest/lungs?
Can you go to the school nurse and talk to them about it? They can probably diagnose you better than us, and they can call your parents and recommend going to a doctor if that's what you need.05 Reply- +1 y
Just a little but not a lot in my lungs. My chest doesn't really hurt but it doesn't feel comfortable.
Opinion Owner+1 yit sounds like asthma, although I am by no means an expert.
I still say go to the school nurse - that doesn't cost any money- +1 y
Well the school nurse can't give us medicine unless our parents drop it off but I was supposed to go to the doctor but my dad didn't off work in enough time. I might be able to go tomorrow or sometime next week.
Opinion Owner+1 yShe won't be able to give you medicine but she will be able to tell you if you asthma or just a cold or something else. And if she thinks you need to take medicine, then she can call your parents. And your parents are more likely to listen to the school nurse.
- +1 y
I went to the doctor today and she said that it was just sinuses but I think that's wrong because I started to get a stopped up nose on Saturday but if it gets worse than I will tell her the next time I go.
+1 yI would tell them that you want to get tested for asthma and allergies and that it's really bothering you.
06 Reply- +1 y
I tried but like I said all they said was oh well and I do have a check up in November but I get them to let me see a doctor about this. They said that they can't afford for me to go to the doctor but it will cost so much more if I end up having to go to the hospital for this.
- +1 y
If they can't afford it or insurance doesn't cover it, there really isn't much you can do.
- +1 y
It sounds like it could be asthma though, try the Web MD symptom checker maybe? It helps narrow stuff down pretty well,
- +1 y
The insurance can but I would have to wait until November 11 but it gets worse everyday. We has a family doctor nearby which doesn't cost as much as the other doctor which is the one that I have had to go to since I have problems with my wrist too.
- +1 y
If it does get worse you should eventually see someone. Maybe you can negotiate something with your parents to go to the cheaper doctor?
- +1 y
I mean I tried and even when I sprained my wrist which they didn't think anything was wrong with it I had to beg them to take me to the doctor. Same for when I had strep throat, an eye infection, and this year I had to be tested for arthritis, lupus, and something else in my wrist. I also have trouble sleeping but the pharmacist told my mom that the doctors wouldn't give me medicine.
+1 yDo you not have insurance or something? They may not want to pay OOP.
011 Reply- +1 y
We do but the insurance won't cover it unless we go in October or after.
- +1 y
Why? That doesn't make sense.
- +1 y
I didn't understand it but my mom said that my dad got some new insurance.
- +1 y
She should pay out of pocket then. It's only like $200 and they have payment plans I think. Do you have an urgent care in your town? Urgent care is like a drs office but you don't need an appointment and they stay open longer than the drs.
- +1 y
It wasn't $200 the last time I remember I think that it was like $30 and it isn't a urgent care place its something that we have.
- +1 y
A dr will run you about $200 here. Urgent care about a little under $100. If it's $30 why haven't your parents taken you?
- +1 y
Well I live in Alabama so I don't know exactly how much it cost. Since I live in a smaller place like in North Alabama we don't have as many places like the places that are for urgent care.
- +1 y
Where do you live Dothan?
- +1 y
No Huntsville.
- +1 y
Oh well call around to a couple places and get price quotes and ask your parents to take you to the lowest one. Assuming money is the reason they won't take you.
- +1 y
I will try talking to them again in the morning.
+1 yYou should go to a walk in clinic, where I live health care's free so I could just show up get checked out and leave, you may have to pay where you live but regardless in case it's serious paying should be the least of your worries. Hope everything's alright.

+1 yIt could be asthma. When did you start noticing these symptoms? How old are you now?
Do you lose breath everytime you any physical activity? Are you athletic or sedentary? Are you overweight?018 Reply- +1 y
I don't remember about when I started to notice not being able to breath and the coughing has been going on for a while. I don't lose breath during every physical activity which is depending on what I'm doing. I am in dance and I play golf and I am far from being over weight and I'm 14.
- +1 y
So, you're a dancer? That sounds pretty athletic. I'm assuming you don't get winded when you're dancing, correct? In that case it just sounds like a weird case- which is why your parents aren't taking it seriously.
I was athletic as a kid but I always had trouble climbing stairs for whatever reason. Sometimes our bodies just aren't used to certain kinds of physical activity, know what I mean? - +1 y
I do but since this year I'm only doing ballet I won't get out of breath as much as I would if I was doing all the others like tap, jazz, hip hop, or modern.
- +1 y
"out of breath" is a relative term. I can sprint 50 meters and be "out of breath" but that's totally different than say, walking along at the Zoo and I have to sit down because I seriously can't breathe. Which one are you?
It kinda just sounds to me like you're the first one... you exercise and you kinda lose your breath. That's what exercise does, it makes your heart beat faster and your breaths more frequent. - +1 y
Its like if sometimes if I am walking back and forth in my hallway at home I get out of breath and sit down. Also before I even posted this question I was walking around my house trying to close the curtain and blinds.
- +1 y
Could be a more sever case of asthma, sure. Do you live in a big, smog-filled city? That probably increases the likelihood.
- +1 y
I don't really understand what that's suppose to be but I live in North Alabama and where I live isn't very big but it is compared to a small town.
- +1 y
Smog... air pollution. Studies show it increases likelihood. But yeah, just hope for the best with your affliction I guess. If you tried going to the hospital on your own the Social Services may get involved and take you away from your parents or something.
- +1 y
otherwise that's what I'd suggest.
- +1 y
I can't even go to the hospital by myself. I can't drive yet, the hospital is too far from my house, and we don't have side walks.
- +1 y
Well as of right now you seem to be handling it ok, right? If you feel really really sick then that's the time to call 911. They'll get to you quick and take you to where you need to go.
- +1 y
I can deal with it but it seems to be getting worse and worse over time and I just want to see a doctor before it does get worse. I talked to my dad and he thinks that its allergies but I don't ever have a lot of issues with my allergies.
- +1 y
Do this: Go to the school nurse and explain everything. She/he would be the closest medical professional to you.
It probably is allergies if your throat feels itchy but you can take something for it. It's a little retarded for your parents to just let it go. Technically an itchy throat is a medical emergency. - +1 y
My throat isn't itchy but sometimes I will feel something in my throat and start coughing but its very rare. I have tried going to the nurse before and they never did anything.
- +1 y
Find a way to get to the hospital kid. I don't know what to tell you. Take the bus or something. Anything else you did would be considered neglect by your parents. Even you showing up at the hospital by yourself may cause the staff to send a Welfare worker over to your house to see what's going on.
It really sucks but I'm pretty much out of ideas, there's not much you can do at your age. You can't get an inhaler because it's prescription and you need a doctor to fill that out. Check out this website, over the counter medication is what you would want. Do any of the symptoms listed describe you?:
www.webmd.com/.../asthma-medications?page=2 - +1 y
I have all the symptoms except I haven't been wheezing. I can't walk to any bus because where I live we don't have any side walks. I also rarely like very rarely actually see the bus. I will try talking to my parents again because now if feels like something is blocking my airway, my chest hurts a little when I try to take deep breaths, and my heart was beating kind of fast off and on today. It also lasted longer too.
- +1 y
holy shit. that's really serious. don't be afraid to call 911 if you're really scared ok?
- +1 y
I will if I need to or if I can.

I had recent hemoptysis due to pneumonitis which is allergy.
You don't have fever, it simply means that you are developing an allergic reaction like asthama.
Do you cough out blood or something dear?
Your parents are so careless.26 Reply- +1 y
I don't cough anything out but sometimes I cough enough to the point where I'm dizzy. Also sometimes very rare but random I feel something in my throat and start coughing and sometimes water doesn't even help. I tried talking to my mom again but she said that she couldn't help me but she could by taking me to the doctor.
- +1 y
I don't know for sure if its an allergy because this happens like every day and unless something is in the air everywhere I go then I just don't know what to do. I told them that I should go see a doctor but they won't take me until November which is when I have to get a check up.
- +1 y
Well that's when I have to go to the doctor for a check up that I normally go to and my waited until then so she has more time to take us. She could always take me to the familty doctor so that they could see what's wrong.
+1 yMaybe you could go see your school nurse. Maybe if the school nurse made a phone call to your parents it would wake them up that maybe something needs to be checked out.
01 Reply- +1 y
I went to the doctor today but thank you.
Tell them it may be that norovirus thats going around. i hope it isn't but you should be checked because it starts with a respertory infecttion. if they dont take you call an ambulance for yourself
014 Reply- +1 y
I'm fine now and went to the doctor already.
- +1 y
I still think it might be something else along with allergies making it worse because I started coughing, sneezing, and getting a irritated throat before I went to the doctor. Everything with that is fine now but I still have problems with my wrist which I never thought much of because it happens all the time but it seems to be getting worse.
- +1 y
Well I sprained two years ago and it healed then started hurting again. I think that the 2nd time I went to the doctor that they would have said it was stressbut they didn't and told me that I needed to go see someone who could figure out what was wrong with my wrist.
- +1 y
I don't know but I would have known if my mom hadn't of cancelled the appointment I had with the doctor that could have figured out what was wrong.
- +1 y
Yes not enough yet to not be able to move my hand but enough for me to know that I should have went to that hand doctor.
- +1 y
I put ice on and rest it when I can but its my right one which I do almost everything with so I rarely have time to rest it. I will try icing it more and if it conitnues to get worse I will tell my parents.
- +1 y
I know that its not broken or sprained but I will try to rest it more when I can.
Most probable to least probable:
Asthma
Pneumonia
Double pneumonia
Lung cancer
Collapsed lung015 Reply- +1 y
Out of what you listed its probably asthma. I don't feel sick it just hurts and it feels like something is blocking my airway.
- +1 y
My dad does too but he kept saying that I wouldn't be able to talk. I can talk normally sort of but he thinks that its not my breathing and he keeps trying to tell me that its an anxiety attack and I know for sure that I'm not having an anxiety attack.
- +1 y
Well I know that when I have an attack it is hard for me to talk but I can still talk I would suggest telling the school nurse and asking her to write ur parents a note saying that u can't come to school until u go to the doctor. That'll make them take u. Plus I think asthma is hereditary
- +1 y
I went to the doctor today and she thinks that its just sinuses but I didn't get a stopped up nose until Saturday so if its still like this or gets worse than I will tell her when I go back in November.
- +1 y
I don't think so because my parents would have probably told me that.
- +1 y
Well when I'm breathing in I can kind of feel both sides expanding so I'm pretty sure that I have two of them.
- +1 y
She sais that it was allergies.
- +1 y
Yeah well it still happens just got as much and not as bad but I should be fine.
It sounds like it could be asthma, i would just pester them till they agree to take you
012 Reply- +1 y
I'm going to try that when they get home. To me it seems like they are trying to ignore me because every time I tell my dad he says it allergies but he's not a doctor so he wouldn't know. I told my mom before she left and she didn't say anything but with her it seems like she doesn't know what to do about it.
- +1 y
I have had to do the same like when I sprained my wrist, had strep throat, and I had to be tested for lupus, arthritis, and something else.
- +1 y
Well they just told me that's its nothing and that I was having an anxiety attack which I'm not and they said that it might be allergies. Neither of them are doctors so I don't know why they think that they know everything.
- +1 y
Same that's why they won't take me. My mom keeps saying that they won't do anything but neither of my parents know that. They keep saying that I may be allergic to my dogs but this happens more when I'm not at home.
- +1 y
Not if my parents won't take me. I kept looking it up and it kept saying that I should go see a doctor but my parents keep acting like its nothing.
- +1 y
They sounded like they were about to but then kept trying to tell me what they thought was wrong. My mom at least went to the store and said that she would look for something for me which I knew she wasn't going to find anything but she could have talked to one of the pharmacist but she came home with root beer and a cookie and said that would help which it didn't.
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yI am not a doctor but I play one on Gag. I believe it could be triplcalicosus. It affects young people that suffer from bouts of paranoia.
06 Reply- +1 y
I don't have problems with paranoia.
Opinion Owner+1 yThen it must be triplcalicosus
- +1 y
I actually just looked that up and I don't think that it exists.
Opinion Owner+1 yHow awful
- +1 y
What do you mean? This what came up Astragalus tricarinatus which is a plant not a respitory disease.
Opinion Owner+1 yNot being able to find triplcalicosus is one of the first symptoms.
+1 yBaby gurl with all the viruses going around the doctor is wise enough to know to treat u as well as treat u
01 Reply- +1 y
I have actually already been to the doctor and got some medicine so I'm fine now.
Be more forceful about it
01 Reply- +1 y
I already went to the doctor but they know that I have been having problems with my wrist for the past 2 years and wouldn't let me go see a doctor that specializes in hands. I have been saying it more but my dad keeps saying that I sleeping on it and my mom takes it as a joke.
