My mom won't let me go to the doctor alone?

Ok, so, I'll get straight to it. My mom won't let me go to the doctor by myself. It's not even that I always ask to go completely alone, sometimes I just say that I'll go inside alone and she can stay in the waiting area but she completely refuses. I'm not trying to hide anything but I feel like I'm old enough to listen to the doctor without her being right there. By the way I don't go to the doctor a lot or anything, just normal checkups. She's like this all the time, even if we're together at the mall, she says that "it's not me she doesn't trust its other people" and yea I get that, but I'm 16, and I'll be off to college in less than two years. Plus, she has started like a chain reaction with this, if I'm out with my oldest brother or older sister then they won't let me go anywhere alone either, I personally think it's kinda weird. So, am I wrong or is she overprotective?

I can totally relate because I am 19 and my mom and overprotective of me as well. But she needs to let you go and grow up someday, you have to leave the nest sometime. I feel like when mothers are overprotective of there daughters I feel as though they are having there daughters miss out on real life experiences and what's really out there. The more they keep you under there roof you aren't going to be able to learn to do things on your own. But your mom really needs to let go at least a tad. i am leaving to go to college in the Fall 2016 and I cannot be any happier.

You're at the age where you can have a confidential visit. So if there's anything that you don't want to tell her but the doctor needs to know, that has to happen. Express to her that you want your privacy and personal space. And tell the doctor if you have something to tell him or her and they will kick your mom out

It's a scary world out there, your mom loves you. She is trying to make sure you don't end up like one of those girls on the news, that goes off with the person and is found raped and murdered. I felt the same way at your age, but now I get it.

At your age you have every right to be in the doctors office w/o her. Tell her. Tell the doctor.
