I have an uncle that got married at 40, he had 3 kids, he raised them all, put them through college, they are all adults doing fine. He is now retired and travels the world with his wife.

Unfortunately, things aren't so straight forward as they used to be in society.

ie traditionally, people could settle down in their 20s and get a house.

So while it would be ideal to start earlier, there are certain benefits to doing so when older.

For example, I have a lot more wisdom and experience. Plus, I know how to take care of my health far better than I did in my 20s. My stamina in my late 30s is night and day ahead of myself in my early 20s.

It is possible to be healthy, god willing, way into the 70s and 80s so long as you know how to look after yourself. Unfortunately, most people don't.

It depends on the person. But I think 40s is pushing the limit. When you are in your 60s and really want to retire and do the things retired people do, you might really wish you were out from under that burden. I've known people who were in that situation, and it really stifles them.

Also keep in mind that the likelihood of the kid losing their parent at a young age increases. The likelihood of dying starts to increase pretty quickly after 50. I think it gives you an increased incentive to keep yourself in good health.

The pic gag used for your question seems off, if someone looks this damaged at 40, there is something seriously wrong going on, even by "idgaf about healthy living" standards, you'd only look this aged at around 80 ish.

Do you think 40s is too late to start a family?

Anyway at about 30 most women tend to not have great success making healthy babies, but there is no upper cap, as its health based, not age based. We used to think women were born with all the eggs they wil ever have, but turns out thats not true, they keep making them until their ovaries start to fail (which might never happen, but for most women under today's health standards its at about 30 that the quality of the eggs drop, and about 50 when the ovaries start to fail)

It's not too late. Medically speaking if you're a woman, there is more risk to it, that's just the reality of that, but it can and has been done. You should have kids when you're ready and if you're ready, not because someone says you have to by this or that date.

I think it isn't fair to the kids. The older the couple the more likely you are to have issues with a baby's health. You won't be around as long as you would be having children younger. If you are 40 when she gets pregnant then you are going to be 59 when they are graduating high school.

I think the sort of physical demand it takes to keep kids entertained would be beyond me, yes.

Yess it's better for the kid to have younger active parents.

@Kingofkings1992 kids with older parents get ignored more often because the parents don't have the energy for them. I see it wayy to often at my kids school and in play groups. Even many times I've had to take those kids under my wing for a bit so they wouldn't get hurt so I'm always on look out when a older parent is out with their kid. It's especially bad with the older dad's 😳

From my POV, yes, although my father was 43 when I was born, but he lived a very long life, although it would have been better, had he been a younger dad.

The way things are going. It doesn't look like I'm getting married after 2 failed relationships and lots of rejections I have gotten. Not too many women won't Direct us or tell us they like us then dumps us over upgrades.

It’s never too late to start a family provided that you are willing and able.

@scott04sa22 no one else's opinion matters it's your life to live at the end of the day. You know what's right for you all you have to do now is do what's right to do for you. You wouldn't be the first person to have a child and be a great parent at 40 many people do it everyday so it's doable, if you are willing and able!.
