Who's into writing? The thing I most like is clever and witty dialogue. The genre doesn't matter so much, but it will be a dialogue between two people. Let's be creative. Or playful. Or dramatic. Or sexy. Your choice. Write something interesting, (and describe your two characters a bit if you want), and I, and others, will try to reply. Each is a separate, impromptu, short story.
Okay. This is off the cuff.
Robert stood with a Senator and two industrialists and listened politely as they went on and on about the proposed "green energy" budget proposal. Their main interest was in how to gain personal financial benefit.
"What scoundrels" he thought to himself. He hated these elite gatherings. But as a financial expert and Wall Street billionaire, his expertise was in high demand. The elites assumed that he was one of them, so he was readily accepted into their circles.
Unbenounced to them, he and his inner circle of spies and technical experts were in the business of information gathering. Their ongoing mission was to foil various nefarious schemes to control economies and monopolize Earth's resources. It was dangerous work, hence the extreme secrecy.
Scanning the room while pretending to listen to his interlocutors, he spied Adrienne gliding down the entry stairs. She was a vision in her form-fitting blue gown with the lights turning her golden hair into a halo.
"Pardon me, gentlemen" he said, excusing himself before heading for the stairs.
Adrienne saw him gazing and smiling at her as he crossed the room. Without taking his eyes off of her face, he stopped within inches, took her hand and lifted it to his lips.
"Darling, " he said, "this is a welcome surprise. What brings you here?"
Scanning the room before looking back up at him, she said "Just slumming." Gazing at him mischievously, she added "And what about you?"
He replied "Ah yes. After all, one much keep up appearances, mustn't one."
She smirked and brushed non-existent lint off of the shoulder of his tuxedo. "You certainly fit right in."
Playing along, he replied, "Thank you. But you! You look too good for this den of vipers. Do you have a particular victim in mind or are you just here for the riveting conversation?"
"Can one victimize a human predator?"
"I fear that if anyone can, it's you", he said with a smile. "Especially in that gown."
"Have I succeeded?"
Stepping closer and tilting his head down to gaze into her eyes, he said "I'm only a man after all."
She laughed and said "Only a man? Now whose the predator?"
"Does that make you the prey?" He laughed. "I think not."
She sighed. "I'm not here for romance. I'm actually here on business, as are you."
"Then we should get together later to compare notes."
"Said the spider to the fly."
"But I only propose a mutually beneficial arrangement" he said, charmingly. Showing his perfect white teeth and holding out his hands, he said "See, no fangs or claws."
"I'm so relieved" she said mockingly. "Then by all means, we should meet later. Your place?"
"I look forward to it."
Before turning, she said "Later it is then, Robert."
He said "Adrienne" and bowed in a genteel manner as she departed.
As a member of his inner circle, he looked forward to hearing what she would gather from the party. And as her lover, anticipated far more from their scheduled meeting. The prospect brightened his otherwise tedious evening.
Damn, Lliam! That was quite the impromptu off the cuff. My brain is almost fried already, lol.
Adrienne turned her back but could still feel the heat from his eyes on her. She maintained her pace, neither slowing nor quickening it. There was no rush. All in due time. Work before play. (But no point in making play dull.)
"Robert, my good man, how are you?" a voice called out, from a few yards away. Robert's eyes turned in its direction. "Oh, him," he thought, with a sneer, but answered, "Mr. Anderson..." in his moderate-effort "The Matrix" Smith robotic-yet-with-a-slight-drawl. And that was it, the fun was over... for now.

I have to create mental images and try to turn them into words. That's obviously what you did.
I love the insertion of Adrienne's perspective in your first paragraph. Perfect.
I had to create a back story to put the dialogue in context. For the characters to be witty, I wanted them to be worldly, sophisticated, and mysterious. What better than a spy story set amongst the global elite?
Matt was sitting at the end of the bar gazing down at his glass of rye. Stella walked over, leaned her forearm against shoulder, and put her lips to his ear.
She whispered, "What brings you to this part of town, handsome?"
"I came for the view."
"But there's nothing to see in here."
"Depends on what you're looking for."
Stella laughed and Matt spun his bar chair around.
With a tough-guy smile, he drawled "How ya doin', Stella?"
"Same as always. What about you?"
"Top of the world, darlin'. You know me."
Suddenly, there was a shout from a table. "Hey, doll, what are you going. Get back over here. I'm getting cold."
There was laughter from the other men at the table. Matt gave the man a glance but Stella ignored him.
They continued talking.
"You look tired, Matt. Everything okay?"
"Sure, sure, no problem."
"It's been a while, Matt. Where ya been?"
"They've been keeping me busy, that's a..."
His word were cut off by the man at the table. "Hey Stella. I told you to get your ass back here."
Matt turned and fixed the man with a threatening gaze. "The lady and I are talking" he said through clenched teeth.
"She's got a job to do!" yelled out the nameless customer.
"And I'm a customer, so she's doing it. Wait your damn turn."
"Or what?"
"Or I'll teach you how to have some patience."
"What are you, her fucking bodyguard? No, wait, her wannabe boyfriend, I get it."
"What I am is none of your business. But I can come over there and make it your business, if you'd prefer."
The nameless man briefly broke off eye contact, calculated and weighed his options, but seeing that Matt was not a man of small build, and he seemed to have the determination of a man exceeding his weight class, nameless man decided to pipe down. They were far enough away from each other to already be in their respective corners.
Stella, who had been watching and listening, and hadn't moved a muscle (she was almost statue-like), suddenly broke into a relieved half-smile, looking grateful into Matt's eyes.
Matt uttered, quietly, so as not to arouse the now sleeping beast, and so that only Stella could hear him, "That'll do, Pig, that'll do."
Sorry, Amanda. I don't know why I misunderstood when you said to do some more. I thought we were done with the first story because I couldn't come up with any ideas for information what might have been gleaned by Robert and Adrienne.
So I started a different vignette.
It wasn't until I read other people's stories and your responses that I understood the game. Duh.
Anyway, I'll follow the new thread.
Her expression became tender as she gazed into his eyes. "What happened" she said.
"Don't worry about it. Everything's fine" he said.
"I mean to us. What happened to us?"
They had been a couple in high school. Then Robert had joined the army. Stella had gone from job to job and wound up waitressing. Opportunities for women were scarce in 1934. Out of desperation, she began accepting offers from men to be their escort. It turned that what they expected was sex. And she found that the money wasn't bad. But, as time went by, she went beyond hating herself to not caring.
It had been almost five years since the two had seen each other when Matt walked into a bar and saw her. By then, he was a grown man and she was a bar floozy. But he didn't care. He had become hard and cynical, but she didn't care. She just wanted to be with him.
Their romance began again. They were happy together. But he would have to leave for days or even weeks at time because of work. He disappeared for almost six months and she lost hope. Now he was back.
He answered, "I don't know, doll. I got caught up in some things. But I'm back. I missed you."
"What say we get out of here, Matt."
He stood, grasped her elbow, and started walking toward the door. Passing the man at the table, Matt gave him a subtle sneer.
"Have fun with the whore" the man said.
Matt said, "Excuse me for a moment" to his partner. Walking to the table, he picked up a pitcher of been and tossed the contents in the man's face. The man shot to his feet, knocking his chair over backwards. Matt's powerful fist connected with his jaw at that instant, knocking him out cold.
The other men looked on in shock. Matt tossed a silver dollar on the table and said, "Here's for the beer" and turn back to Stella. Grasping her elbow again, he said "Shall we go?"

This is actually from something I want to write, but hey, let's see how it works.
Scene - Dark, winter night. Two men standing on the edge of a hill outside a monastery.
The characters - One of the men ("Locutus", "My lord") is the rightful king of a certain land. He had been king many years earlier, but descended into corruption, betrayal, and murder. He was defeated in a key battle, and got deposed, exiled, and imprisoned. He had later escaped from prison, only to become a drunken derelict. He is taken in by a religious order and spends several years in recovery and retraining. By the time of this scene, he has learned that an old and lethal enemy is advancing on his kingdom, on the cusp of ruling it forever.
The other man ("Father", "Your Excellency") is an older and hardened member of the religious order. Over the years, he mentored and trained the king. It had been a very rocky and turbulent student-mentor relationship at the start, but has become one of great mutual respect and filial love. He fully acknowledges Locutus as king.
So the final decisive battle of the story is looming. Whom would you like to play?
Regardless, the first line is Locutus...
"I have to go back."
My, this is detailed! A bit intimidating.
Hmm. I think I might have to play Father, because Locutus has a very complex past, and clearly you know it inside and out.
Father: "If you feel you must. Are you sure you are up to it? How have these years treated you? You are looking well, much better."
Actually... I don't know his full backstory yet. In fact, I had more information originally, but I cut it down quite a lot partly for that reason, but also there was just too dang much 😆 I don't even know if "Locutus" will be his name or his title.
At any rate...
Locutus - "I have no choice. My people are dying. If I'm to be honest, I've never been more terrified, but I can't run from this anymore."
Father: "Mmm. A man with no future often looks to his past. But, it appears you have been called to action. Perhaps even if one's fate, and days are numbered, it is better to face it than delay the inevitable."
Locutus: "Indeed." He stood, somewhat dramatically, in the silence. He cast his gaze out over the land which he loved so much. A look of fear overtook his face. "Do you have any words of advice for me, Father?"
Father: "I'm afraid this battle may be yours, and yours alone to fight. Not that you will be alone on the battlefield, but now will be the time to conjure up all that you have learned thus far. The [monks?] treated you well, I presume? I suggest you take heed of their wisdom."
Locutus: "Father, I don't know if I have the strength to do this."
Father: "And you will find out."
I like this, but I'll pick up from the first line, since it's my favorite from this comment...
*Locutus sighs heavily, looks out at the unknown land beyond the hill for a moment, then back at Father*
"You've taught me well, Father. I'll no doubt be ill-received, especially after all these years. But I was born for this. I'll die for it if I must."
"If you believe it is your destiny, then it is so. The outcome is unknown, but the cause is just."
Suddenly Locutus heard a faint rustling in the distance. It caught his ear, and he looked to the woodland area nearby to the east. It was dark, cold, and an icy spike of adrenaline shot up his back, One never knew what might come out of the woods in the night. It was, to his relief, the sound of horse hooves; first one set, then another, and another. As the first emerged, its black head, glassy eyes, wild mane, and nostrils flared, pierced the open hillside, closing the distance between them. Though the horse was not familiar, the mount was wearing a very familiar garb - a deep, indigo, covered in gleaming, hand-hammered, silver breastplate. The intermittent sound of metal hitting metal, punctuated the crisp air. The ground was so cold, there was almost frost on it beginning to set in, and with every strike of the horse's hooves, you can hear small twigs cracking under the pressure. They were a sight for weary eyes. Locutus turned to the Father and smiled with relief. His mouth opened, but he did not know what to say. "I took the liberty, My Lord," he said, with a tip of his head. It was a most gracious presumption.
Haven't written in a long time, but here goes:
Casey sat in the empty house she once shared with John. Once again reminiscing about days gone by. The memories still so vivid in her mind, she swears she can still hear him moving around the house, can still smell the scent of his cologne. Giving herself a mental shake, angry at herself for once again dwelling on the past, she resolves that from this day forward, she is going to let the past go, try to erase John from her heart and mind. It's at that very moment she receives an urgent message from John "Casey...

An urgent message? Like, in what form are you thinking? In her head?
"Casey, I know you're struggling. I know you. I know you are feeling the push and pull of guilt and regret, loss and the self-critique of not moving on. You need to know that there is nothing more that needed to be said. I already know. I always knew. We were everything to each other, and we always can be. That does not have to be taken away by our different paths, or time. The memory of me will stay within you, as will mine of you. We will always have them.
But I don't want to see you suffer, to see you sad, any more than you wanted that for me. I give you permission. I release you. I unburden you for any shadow of a doubt that a new path is the wrong path. Anything that you choose to do, will be fine by me, I will support you. I wish I was there to hold you from behind, wrap my arms around you, comfort you, tell you it will all be all right. Remember how our dog used to come up behind us, push his nose into us, into that crease behind the knees... sometimes when we weren't expecting it, it would make our legs crumple and gravity would take over, just for a moment... well, imagine I am standing behind you, at your back, gently nudging you forward. It's the only way, Casey. Trust me, I know. I know it with all my heart."
Not bad, but I was thinking more about actual real urgent message...
"Casey, I'm in trouble, I need your help. I..." The message cuts off there. Casey can't believe that after everything John put her through, the way things ended, she'd be the person he would contact for help, and help with what? Why can't Shana the woman he left her for help him? The part of her that still loves John, still cares about him wins over her anger. She tries to call him, but the call goes straight to voice mail... She tries again and again till finally her call is picked up. All she hears is someone breathing. She says "John, are you there? John? Say something'.. Then the call is disconnected... Starting to feel uneasy, she does something she really would rather not do. She calls Shana, her ex best friend and John's new woman. When Shana answers the phone, she asks her to put John on the phone. Shana replies "Even if I wanted to, I can't. John's been missing for three days and noone's seem or heard from him since he left work three days ago..

I've had a few over the years, since I was a child. But downsized back into an apartment now and might never have another. The last one, Clover, was an absolute sweetheart. She died tragically before her time. I think it was a raccoon.

Jim : So you're saying you were sick and you wanted it?
Ralph : Yeah, but I didn't want the part where my mother knows about this and then comes to wish me death out loud.
Jim: Yeah i get it but why would you want to get sick?
Ralph : Simple! let's say I have a good immune system, I know I won't die! But it's not laziness or anything. It just feels good to have yourself realising that God is in control, and to watch your own vulnerability and weakness as a human being unfolding upon you and telling that you are so limited, and you have no energy to combat all these people who chose to be hostile for no reason. Normal fever to cold really renews your consciousness like you restart a computer.
Jim : You surely pissed so many people to have so many enemies.
Ralph: No, Jim no, although I am not perfect and I admit it, I grew learning more and more.. But I realise it's people around me who want to convince me that they're perfect.
Jim: Or when they catch something against they giggle and be happy and laugh about you. As opposed to what you do, you pretend you didn't see their bullshit out of self respect, and because you know nobody's perfect!
Ralph : Exactly.
Jim : And this unreciprocated genuineness, pisses you off about most people.
Ralph : Look, most people are my friends, I have no problem with people.. I have a problem with certain assholes.
Jim: Can you name them? I mean to yourself, can you identify who is the bad person and why?
Ralph: Not accurately, it's all about vibes for me. But I am not a ruthless hater, I can list down people I am mad about right now, and why. But I know people are flexible, people change and I might like them another day under some circumstances... But this is the new thing about the new me, I do identify things that are unchangeable about someone else's personality, and I just skip that part and belittle it.
Jim: This might come from your mammy problems.
Ralph: Fuck that bitch man, I mean I like about her being a thick skin.. Makes me feel good. But that doesn't justify her absolute pure hatred.
Jim: What do you mean?
Ralph : I mean everyone views their lives as something precious. They want to invest it and have fun at it. And when someone comes and robs that from you, turns your life into pure shit, impregnates you, and gives you someone that's partially him which you're supposed and obliged to love. That's bad.
Jim: I see, that's where the empathic part of you that I love shows up.
Ralph : No man, fuck empathy! I accept life turning me into a psychopath, the kind of whom doesn't kill just because the law forbids it. What I am doing is just understanding.. I mean I understand why she is a bitch, that's it.
Jim: Because she doesn't take any moral responsibility giving birth to you.
Ralph: Yeah welp, when you're actually not religious in the least. I mean the genuine kind of religious people... And you are given up by tribal culture to another man to bring him some children. It makes sense that you don't love those children.
Jim: yes.
Ralph : And therefore you make them feel like rape children who are part of the problem of coming to this world.
Jim: Kinda. But what's their fault? is there any scientific confirmation whether that's true, I mean do people really choose to be born?
Ralph : Hold that thought, stop acting like Joe Rogan in intellectual reasoning!

Ralph : I mean the whole thing about stripping reproduction from free will, is stupid and pointless. There are many ways in the 21st century to just enjoy relieving sexual need. we are evolved humans.
Jim: hmmm.
Ralph : It's like what someone in GAG told me, life sucks but sex makes up for it.
I said sex is just reproduction of this life that sucks, it's not just fun. he said, if you've been having it this way, you haven't been having real sex

Ralph : Yeah, this whole thing makes life cool. When you only have children whenever you want them and capable of providing them enough rights and resources to become strong and good.
Jim : But where does religion fit positively in all this? I mean it's the biggest ally of marrital rape, and reproduction without awareness, responsibility, or love..!
Ralph : Well the thing is, when you used to have radical societies with ignorance. Women who had no choice but to find themselves pregnant in early age, they attributed everything to God.. and so they had a lot of morality and morale to nurture these kids genuinely and love them.
Jim : I see
Ralph : There are certain things that are necessary along with certain others.. Like radical traditionalist lifestyle, must come along with religion, not just faith!, Or in the other hand if you want to have a healthy civilised relationship based on awareness and free will and CONSENT, then you can actually adopt a non-religious lifestyle.
Jim: They can't go together!
Ralph : They can't! You can't have children who you are convincing to have part in their creation to life, And in the same time ridicule their spiritual loving feelings.
Jim : That's a fucked up.. indeed!
Ralph : Fucked me up pretty good! I say this clearly over and over to myself... I have no responsibility coming up to this life, God brought me, and that's why I pray and have a good spiritual relationship with the creator. I did enjoy stuff from this life, but that isn't bad at all, that doesn't mean that I have to oblige myself to psychologically suffer... I believe the ultimate test for me is to do good by others, to deny and prevent evil, make a positive impact.. and on the way it's never wrong to just enjoy, enjoy breathing air, enjoy the sex, to love myself while accepting imperfection.. Yeah!
Jim: Very easy right?
Ralph : Completely easy! whoever says life is difficult, or that it should be difficult, is clearly possessed by evil spirits.
Jim: It shouldn't be difficult.
Ralph : No! it's difficult for people who on their free will choose evil, to find a purpose.
Jim: Or to make a purpose.. Find it, make it, whatever!!
Ralph : Yes, and in the same time women ought to be compensated from us, for all the biological suffering they go through.
Jim: Correct, give them more love, carry their bags, make them happy, allow them some feminism and freedom.
Ralph : Yeah, the whole thing shouldn't be a gender warfare. I mean I have a female friend, she is so soft and cute, clearly rejected me. I keep telling her, she is more badass and king material than all my male friends... she laughs.
Jim: [Laughing].. Yeah they do have a great deal of loyalty. I mean they are many of them who won't wish you death behind you, or in front of your face.
Ralph : Welp!
Jim: And in the same time, while you could allow yourself to be a mysoginist.. but you chose not to generalise. I think we have more than 200 countries in this planet, you can allow yourself to characterise women of one little population as bad.
Ralph : Culturally or genetically?
Jim: No they just bad bitches, because God wants them to...
Ralph : Doesn't mean they're not attractive,...
Jim: Doesn't mean at all, they could be very attractive.
Ralph : But still bad psychotic bitches.
Jim: Just them few millions, out them billions of women... no generalisation. Does that work?

I like to do writing and have been doing so since sophomore year of high school. Started by writing fanfiction and although I cringe when I look back at it I really developed a love for it as a hobby and the art of story telling and character development.
I have two that I really was happy with. One was revolving around two characters playing chess and talking about the significance of each piece since it was a foreshadowing tool I wanted to implement. The other was one my favorite segments I wrote revolved around the difference of reality and fantasy. I will PM it to you though.
As she learned against the fence, she fetched a cigarette from her pocket, patted her breast pocket for the lighter and with one smooth, elegant gesture, lit up. As she took the first huffs, her pale blue eyes were focused on a most particular sight - huffing, wheezing like an elderly uncle, his skin yellow from liver disease; a man was busing raking the rows were he intended to plant his crops.
He wore the typical garb of a campesino, a man of the fields - soft leather boots, a large straw hat, and a dirty white shirt which was missing a couple of buttons.
By contrast, her outifit was more suited for the salotto than the dirt field - a polka dot blouse, pencil skirt and buckled shoes.
It was a rainy loathsome night, and after three days of pounding shoe leather I still didn't have a lead on the guns or the missing rich girl.
I did however have a new lump on the noggin and a strong desire for a hard drink...
I felt uneasy. There were so many loose ends, so many questions to yet be answered. But, finally relenting, knowing they would not be solved this night, I turned the piercing white headlights west, into the familiar back alley lit with the deep red neon light, and parked neatly into the last vacant spot. I entered through the back door, which was unattended, and nonchalantly made my way to a far corner table. I had only just begun taking off my coat, and unfurling the leather cross-body bag from around my neck and torso, when a server came over and greeted me warmly. "Hey there," he/she [you choose] said, with familiarity yet without my name. "Nasty night out there, isn't it?" "It is," I said, agreeably. Although not yet on a first name basis, we had an easy comfort between us. It was particularly welcome, given the night I had just had. [he/she] continued. "What'll it be? The usual, or you're in the mood for something new?"
"Well sweetheart, let's try something new, the usual doesn't seem to be doing me any favors lately."
I sigh and run my fingers through my hair, damp with rain and sweat. It's been too long since I had a shower or a shave for that matter.
"What do you suggest?" I eye the barmaid up and down, noticing that she's an easy sight for long weary eyes. I dig a bent cigar out of my coat. "Mind if I smoke in here?"
"Well..." she replied, "it's not really allowed. But for you, I guess we can make an exception." I may have detected a wink. Or was it just my imagination... She paused, pursing her pink lips together, and tapped her left index finger on them for just a moment. Then, as if a small light went off inside her head, "How about a Manhattan? I know you like whiskey. And you get a cherry!" she smiled.
"Fine, sounds good. But make it a rocks glass, if you don't mind. I'm not in the mood for champagne glasses and shit like that right now."
"Oh, we don't have those here anyway. Rough night?"
"Rough week. Rough month. Sometimes I feel like I'm just chasing my tail..." he trailed off.
"You mean 'your tail', not 'chasing tail', right?" He found her question... interesting, but chose not to answer it.
"It's just this case. I feel like I'm getting nowhere, running in circles, ya know?"
"Well, yeah. Well, not really, actually." She looked awkward now, for the first time since coming over, and I realized I had just opened a can of worms. She hesitated a moment, then added, "Would you give me a few minutes? I'd like to hear more, but I really have to check in on a few people here. It's not that busy, but, ya know, it pays the bills. Anyway, I'll get you that drink!" She smiled, the corners of her mouth turning up, but no teeth were flashed. And she was off. I watched her hips sashay into the distance. Was she sashaying, or was that just how she normally walked, I wondered...

The two aliens arrive upon a ruined planet. When they landed, they notice large metal ruins looming over the landscape.

"Oh shut your pie hole. I had enough of yer' backseat driving. 898 years I been hearing this jerflazagratz."

This was par for the course for Nakrod and Kerkels, just another day in the universe. Though both of them probably should stop, neither of them was ever going to. Nope, they were stuck with each other. Brothers are so annoying. Especially when you are separated at birth.
As soon as they touched down, and the exhaust fumes diminished enough to not cause complete toxicity and asphyxiation, the race to the door began. This was yet another of their competitions - who could step out onto the planet for the first time.
Kerkels tried to quietly unlatch his seatbelt. But he wasn't fooling Nankrod. He came out of the incubation pod 5 seconds earlier than his brother, and he was goona' lord this over him foreeeever. Thought he was so smart.
Nankrod was not quiet at all. He went for speed, but fumbled and bumbled the unlatching (accuracy was never his strong suit), and Kerkels made it to the door a split second before him.
"Duuuuu... duhhhhh... duh duhhhhhhh!" as he none-too-subtlely sung aloud the classic sci-fi movie theme music. "That's one small step for MEEEEE, and one less step for YOUUUUUU..."
But this time, Nankrod had a secret method, a secret weapon. He pulled from his front kangaroo-like slimy pocket, a burlap sack, and promptly threw it over his brother's head. Blinded, and suddenly gasping in mock, exaggerated, disgust, "You know how much I hate the smell of potatoes, Nankrod!" But it was all Nankrod needed. He unlatched the door and hopped out, landing firmly, and self-satisfied, into a fresh pile of... scat. Of unknown origin.
Kerkels had now taken the sack off his bulbous, large-eyed and now slimy head, and bent over in also-satisfied laughter. "And that's what you get, 'Big Brother!'" He also hopped down to join him.
