Side question - why is there such a huge volume difference between the speech channels and the music/effects channels in American movies? In German dubs they harmonize the levels, which is much more convenient when watching at home. In the English dub I am constantly adjusting the volume.

You can control the sound levels at home. get a good video amp and some speakers and crank it up to 11.

It's way too fucking loud at the movies. I bring those little foam earplugs to the theater with me so I can put them in my ears and control the volume myself.

People talk in theaters, so they turn it up loud so you can hear over the rude talkers

People don't talk once they switch the lights off and the movie starts so it doesn't justify them putting it so loud!
