Implying that minorities can't do anything without the backing of a white person.

For example, let's look at the film Blade. Sure we have Wesley snipes, a black man, as the main character but everything that he learnt about being a vampire slayer was taught to him by Abraham whistler. Keep in mind, that Blade's mentor in the actual comic is a black man named Jamal Afari. Yet, producers felt the need to change him to a white person.

In the movie blade I don't see what you're talking about it's not black vs. White. It's old vs. Young. If you remember blades mother was bitten when he was in utero. His mother appeared to die. He was born as a contradiction. Sort of half human half vampire. Not fully changed, able to withstand sunlight, but still has the hunger for blood.

I think if you solely focus on the fact that blade is black and whistler is white. Not only do you miss the story entirely. But you kind of prove you're racist.

I could see where that would be seen as weird, but I’ve never noticed that until you mentioned it just now. It’s important to remember that we are less than 100 years passed one of, if not the most racist periods in human history. It never crossed my mind, but my guess is it was driven by economics. Had it been Denzel or Samuel Jackson who was his mentor, I also would never have thought "oh, isn't it cool that his mentor is a black guy and not a white guy or an Asian".
