If you do a remake, than actually do a remake. If you want to change ethnicity, then make a whole new story.
Then*
It’s not specifically because she’s black. It’s because Disney’s original was not. It’s supposed to be a remake. They kept her hair being red.
Because people are apparently triggered by the portrayal of their beloved fake cartoon characters stay white.
Eric Anderssen, the author of The Little Mermaid, wouldn’t be happy. Second if, by any means, people made a movie about a minority and casted a white actor or actress, you’d be complaining. You’re not helping
Really, you communed with him and he told you so.
@DermalPunch yeah. Also, his name was Hans my bad
I agree people are crazy and need to stop being judgmental
because its an insult to black people and they don't realize it.
To be included into society is an insult? Don't bother replying I've muted the post
@242plusInfinity Someones a little bitch
Because the people who are upset or frustrated about it know why they did it.
If prince Erik is white in this movie and gets with ebony Ariel I don't see it as a problem I see it as a win.
I think the whole thing with making live-action remakes of classic cartoons is BS. Disney will suck money out of anything.
Cause Hollywood is getting what they want racial Divide.
If i casted a white man to play Michael jordan, how would the media and people react
Michael Jordan was a real person, Ariel is a fictional character
This was a brainless analogy
Michael Jordan wasn't a real person either, he got paid a trillion dollars to dribble a basketball with the fucking Looney Tunes in Space Jam.
Okay if i casted Candyman a fictional character with a white guy, you bet your ass the media and people would be complaining because a white guy was casted as a fictional black character
I'm gonna produce the Oprah Winfrey story starring Amy Schumer.
The media and a group of social justice warriors will come knocking on your door
@carriewilson4567 miss intimidated aka insecure when it comes to black women, Oprah is a real person. Mermaid is not. With your low iq I see why we now have a black mermaid🤣😵.
@Chthou95 I live in suburbs I have no interest driving to your rundown neighborhoods🤣😘.
So you're an sjw? Im shocked 🙃
Mermaid don't exist, so why can't a mermaid be black?
I see no reason they can't be. But ARIEL isn't black. Had Disney came out with a NEW story with a black mermaid, no one would care. Disney could have created any number of movies and cast this actress, and if the movie was good, people would have lined up to see it.
But Disney did this BECAUSE Ariel isn't black - they only win diversity points if they race (or gender, or orientation) swap an EXISTING character. In fact, they specifically selected the MOST white characters (redheads tend to have the whitest skin) to change HER. Marvel and DC have replaced tons of redheaded characters with race-swapped black characters in the comic books too. It's done intentionally.
Disney made the Princess & The Frog, with a black princess. Everyone went to see it, and it was a big hit, and no one cared that she was black. But creating a new character and a new story doesn't score woke points because everyone is fine with that - being woke is about pushing an ANTI-WHITE, PRO-BLACK message, and if you don't have the anti-white part, no points can be scored. This is why EXISTING characters are race-swapped - because THAT scores ESG points.
What you aren't understanding is that race-swapping people this way is RACIST. But the far left believes that changing people's race for no reason is GOOD if it's white to black, but BAD if it's any other way. That entire position is racist.
The fact that they felt the need to change an iconic character speaks a lot about their mindset, aka, pure virtue signaling.
Well personally I think they should have put the work in to make a amazing original black character because that’s what black people Deserve.
But I’m not mad that she’s black I know it made some black people happy which made me happy
You get it. See this is why I love the young generation.
Who cares The only people that are mad about it are the dumbasses that know nothing about Mythical Creatures.
What has the century got to do with it? And this is just another disney abomination.
I didn't know that there was one and I didn't know that people care. I certainly don't.
They are?
Disney's doing their best to catch up on "woke."
Because it’s bullshit how they’re changing races of the original character. Even barbie dolls have every race, it’s bullshit
Same reason they would be "butthurt" over a white Muhammad Ali Clay
Horrible comparison.
People have it in their minds of Mermaids being a product of European Mythology.
I really don't understand... smh it's so sad tho
With sad I mean all the hate, to be cristal clear lol
I somewhat changed my mind since I seen a black girl cry over her being black
This made me so mad. . .
I cried. . .
No idea 🤷🏻♂️
She's not sexually attractive.
They're concerned that she may drown
they are? lolol
Beyond butt hurt girl
lmfao
How can a mermaid be black?
If the story line is good, color dont matter.
I know no one who is….
She actually does make a good Ariel.
This is about remakes, not skin color.
How do you know that they are?
No clue lol
butthurt? i like it
