Why is piano associated a lot with horror theme or depressive theme?

Learning piano professionally did affected my personality and way of thinking. But in a deeper way. I became a deep thinker with piano and writing. It didn't affected me in any dark ways instead it's a stress reliever. I guess because of that unique deepness in it's tone which isn't available in Guitar, Marimba, Flute or such.

I'd guess (I don't know a whole lot about the history of music in theater) that it started with some particular association that was just built on, again and again. In pure sound terms, you'd think a pipe organ would be better for creepy music, but you can't easily bring one of those out on stage. A bagpipe would be good, too, but it's hard to modulate the levels of sound, either for the Great Highland pipes or smaller ones. It'd be easy TODAY, of course, but not two hundred years ago, when these precedents were being set.

Maybe we need more jaunty, upbeat piano music; perhaps you should write some.

Well honestly piano really doesn't suit that theme. Turkish March doesn't sounds really great, does it? That theme matches well with funky instruments like guitar. Piano sounds bad with them, I tried it. Like you really don't get the feel. It is made for pieces like River Flows in You and such pieces.

I don't know I think it just produces a natural ominous feeling and hence gets associated to horror themes.

That's what makes me wonder the most. Like in 90% of the horror movie I have watched till now contains at least one scene with piano or even in the background as a showcase. By the way thanks for liking my post, it's first time you liked my content. I appreciate it.
