If I am making a DIY Christmas decorations and I'd like it to light up, would the lights still show if I spray painted it?

I want to make some jumbo DIY Christmas decorations for outside. I'd love to paint them and make them colorful. If I want some of them to light up, would the lights still show through if I spray painted the outside of the decorations?

I plan to use some battery-operated LED lights and place the lights inside the decoration and keep the battery pack outside. I'm just worried that if I paint them to make them look nicer, the light up feature may not show up well.

Any tips for this? Best lights to use for this type of project and how to paint the item while still having them light up?

This all depends on whether you want a deep color or a hint of a color. In reality, you can use any spray paint, as long as you spray quickly from a distance, so the tiny droplets hit further apart. Experiment on a similar material till you have it down to a science. A quick once over is all you'd want. If you want opaque paints that would allow a deeper color, you may want to explore something like these, though they'll probably cost you more:
