I think music has changed, so now people dance differently and more loose and upbeat so it doesn't fit with the times always. Also people dress different now, and doing such formal or intricate things aren't common anymore. Definitely a beautiful art form though.

A few rewson I guess: I feel somehow it didn't get to this generation. The music style that is popular is not that great for dancing most of the time. At least the pop music that eveybody knows. Also in my personal experience as a hobby dancer, guys dont like dancing somehow.😔 male hobby dancer in teenage years are even often told its gay (I heard). Not sure how dancing with a girl is gay but...
Well, swing dancing happened. And then rock and roll.
And I guess people just forgot.
But I hope that it does come back.
But I am honestly okay with it not being popular with everyone. If the low-class people still do their low class things, it will keep them separate from the rest of us so we don't have to deal with them.
The popularity of music styles changed, for one. Also, it used to be taught in schools; that's gone. Then, there used to be places to go to dance; that's gone too.
In high school, during our senior year, we were required to take ballroom dance lessons before we could buy a ticket to senior prom.

I like the concept of it. Sounds romantic and passionate.. but I’d probably be terrible at it. I’m awful at all sorts of dancing. Just plain awkward, really. However, with enough practice, I would be somewhat decent.
It isn’t extinct. People still go to those stuff. Just isn’t that common. There are Latin music events and you can easily dance there samba and rumba style to this type of music, of course if you and your dance partner is capable to do it. 100 years ago basic dancing skills belonged to good etiquette, that's why ballroom dancing with waltz and tango music existed. Nowadays people shake like they had epilepsy on dance floor and when you know few moves and you have sense for the rhythm, people think you're a dance pro. lol
Very few people know it very well soo may be due to that dear..
It’s still around, just not common.
there are a few dance studios nearby where they have open dance after class.
No TV and no Internet encouraged people to learn other kinds of hobbies.
Also people lived in smaller villages, were they knew each other. Hence getting the village together and having parties was more common.
Things go out of style, but if You find people like myself who love ballroom dancing, dance with them! Search for ballroom dancing classes; I reckon they still exist. Like George Harrison, I would be so happy to dance with You!
If I was a betting man. Which I’m not. I’m guessing that you never heard of Baroque or minuet dancing. When Ballroom came around. People thought that Ballroom was scandalous.
Covid stopped a lot of these social activities.
old people died and didn't teach anyone young
My former school does those. They are modern but probably a closest thing to a ballroom dance.
Popularity of things change with time. Nothing new about it.
Because the 70 hr work week has risen just to make ends meet. Who has time for bullshit like ballroom dancing.
My 15 yr old son is in his school ballroom dance team...
People have become more conscious about embarrassing themselves around people while dancing and they’re too shy to ask someone for a dance.
Ballroom Dancing appears to be a lost art, and I really don't know why?
