I don't think its dead; I've participated in a few debutante balls/cotillions for a girls 18th birthday and we always had to do some repertoire of ballroom dancing for the guests. Also, we have ballroom dance clubs/classes in the university that I go to, so I don't think its gone extinct or anything :) Plus the dancing shows that are quite popular now.. So you think you can dance and dancing with the stars have ballroom dancing there :)

I voted C because I legitimately have no idea. But I think shows like So You Think You Can Dance and Dancing With the Stars help popularize ballroom dancing a bit. They actually started a club for ballroom dancing at my school last semester, and it's pretty popular. I wouldn't expect that from college students.
Hey, I don't know if this is just wehre I live, but we have these things called Contra Dances where you just dance all of these old folksy dances, like the waltz and other ballroom dances. Check it out and see if there's one by you.
It's still associated with middle and high class, and special occasions. And no, I don't think it's on the decline or has seen a steep since the arrival of the less formal club dancing.
