+1 yNot really. I probably have the foundation on which to build, but i take rejection very poorly and there are metric fuck tons of rejection, bombs, shit shows and NO MONEY before you can have a career as a stand-up. It’s more work and much harder than most people think. That’s why i think we should be allowed to beat hecklers to death with no consequences.

It's like that with performing arts in general I think... I recall Huey Lewis saying something like "It took 15 years of hard work and disappointments to become an overnight sensation"

@Ill_made_Knight lol that sounds right.

2.2K opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic. I was told many times back in school that I should be a comedian. But there's a big difference between cracking wise and making people laugh, and doing it professionally. I think I'd hate it if it were my job. Also I've been to enough comedy clubs to know there's always some a**hole who thinks he's funny and wants to try to impress his friends by heckling. I would be a mean comic. And you really can't do that. Because at the end of the day they paid and you have to promote your brand. Ask any of my friends. We flip eachother s***, but most won't challenge me ecause I'm merciless and will bury them. I know this makes me sound mean but I'm not. Busting balls is war, and I don't typically lose. 🤣

+1 yI am really good in front of public audiences, very comfortable so to speak. But I don't think I'm terribly funny, I'm not very good at making fun of others in all honesty :-).

Perfect! I hope they're all not focused on tall people!
+1 yGod, no. 😶
I wouldn't even be able to tell a joke because I laugh before telling it. Plus my sense of humour (if I can even call it that lol) is pretty weird. 😅

Thank you! The same goes for you.
I think you could be a good one tho 😆

I've done it before on open mic nights. I got a few laughs. I can be VERY self-deprecating, in a Louis CK kind of way. But coming up with new material is hard. So yeah, I could be good at it.

+1 yMy co-workers have tried to convince me to do an open mic night at a comedy club. The problem is my humor is very situational and no one besides the people who were in the room with me at the moment would get the joke. I'll settle for entertaining my coworkers on jobsites and leave the standup to other people.

+1 yNot really, sending memes and short clips is as far as my sense of humor goes. I wouldn't mind going to see a comedy show since I never have.
29 Reply- +1 y
Yeah, there's plenty of shitposts accounts online but most of them are stolen memes lol. At least there's a meme for everything. Have you been to a show?
- +1 y
Which shows have you gone to? I imagine it'd be fun, better than edgy 13 year olds on the internet lol (can't really make fun of them too much since I'm barely a few years older lol).
- +1 y
That's fine, there's usually a few shows nearby where I live, of all sorts, but I've never been to one before. I remember a teacher of mines had recommended this site that lets you look up nearby shows (it included theatre shows too and she was the school's drama teacher so that's why).

lol, usually the only adults that appear at my school (beside the usual stuff) are usually military recruiters so I didn't know that was a thing. I hope it is lol. Either way, a afternoon of just jokes is great if you're in the mood, i figure it's even better in person.

+1 yGeorge Carlyn! The patron saint of societal irony comedy! <3
Toward his end, he'd become acerbic and angry
BECAUSE while he WAS entertaining... like in Garfunkle's "Sounds of Silence"
his words like silent raindrops fell, and echoed in the wells-of-silence.
"Hear my words that I may REACH you... that I may TEACH you~00 ReplyI doubt it. I can make people laugh but I'm very deadpan. As a stand up you need to have a rapport with the audience, which I don't think I could do. Good comedy is all about timing and delivery, well good material helps of course.
I saw a hilarious stand up comedian on YouTube, a guy called Steve Hughes. His timing and delivery was awesome.
10 ReplyDelivery? Yes! I'd nail that.
Developing material? Nope.
13 Reply461 opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic. As much as I love stand-up comedy, I wouldn't stand a chance in the world of being good at it!
I'm able to successfully pull off recitals of other comedian's work, but coming up with my own material, not a chance.

+1 yNo. I’d be awful. My humor is dry and fast. It comes to me infrequently.

I can also make elementary aged and middle school aged kids laugh pretty often too. It helps with making classroom management easier.
10 Reply6.6K opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic. I teach at a local college and I sometimes inject humor into my lectures. The kids seem to think I am funny or maybe they just laugh so I give them a better grade.

@wicked_witch "Reach for that sippy cup!"
- +1 y
@PrettyPriya Lolz! we don’t want him to make a mess, though! 😸
- +1 y
@wicked_witch I suspect he has a collection of those sippy cups that you can knock over without spilling. We couldn't trust him with the juice boxes we used to give him when cranky.

A woman goes to get surgery on her labia because they're too big for her liking. She tells the doctor
"Don't tell anyone about this!"
To which the doctor agrees, and the surgery is performed. When she wakes up, she sees 3 roses on the table beside her. Furious, she calls the doctor.
"I told you not to tell anyone!"
To which the doctor replied
" I didn't, one rose is from me for the experience, the second is from the nurse who assisted me, and the third is from a burn victim two floors up, for giving him his new ears."
