always seeing ads on my steaming site for stand up comedians.
and i can't understand the point of them.

They usually aren't funny firstly and most of them aren't even being spontaneous.
Theyve memorised a script.
i just dont get how it became a thing.
If you want funny, hire an actually witty guy whose funny on the spot. You know... reacting to live people with wit.
Or if its going to be scripted -make a movie

I do and I enjoy it. I've seen live improv and comedy shows fairly frequently too.

I like it, but not everything is for everyone. Sounds like you might like improv though if what you're looking for is something different every time. But even then, the sort of stuff that is performed for money will be somewhat scripted/structured and practiced.

People tend to practice or perfect what they want to charge others money for professionally.

Most of them are not at all funny and to cover that up they try to be funny by insulting the audiences

I think Steve Harvey just staring at the audience can be funnier than most of the stand up comedians trying hard to be funny lol
