Joker, in 2019. I'd been told people were being advised not to see it, and assumed that was due to fears of a repetition of the Dark Knight shootings. I have NO patience for terrorism of ANY kind, so I went to see it out of spite, despite not having much interest in Batman (at the point in life where teen angst hits hardest, I was reading Les Miserables, a book with quite a bit of angsty sorrow. It peaks at a point where the main character, a former convict who's broken his parole and completely turned his life around, becoming mayor of a small town and running a jet factory. He discovers that a man who looks like him has been captured, and is facing life imprisonment for that crime- he intends to turn himself in, but realizes all the people he's employing will be out on the street without him, and faces a moment of crippling indecision. There's even a song about it in the play, and it's easily the most broody moment. It goes on for about a page and a half, then he makes up his mind.). It turns out that wasn't the reason (that was for some truly disturbing social things), and it actually isn't a Batman movie, but I'm glad I saw it, because it's excellent.

I saw a movie called thr Big Short. It was about the economic meltdown that happened during thr Obama administration. The only reason we went was because we had no electricity and the house was getting too cold. By the time the movie was over we had power back.
