Quantum Leap has been remade. We have had Magnum PI , McGuyver, Hawaii 5_0 and many more.
I think this could be like.00000000001% sensitive, of a subject, to some lol
For those who build core memories and/or are sentimental, and I know that’s partially true for myself, (and the other half- it’s not a bother to me).
I think the shows that get remade would have to be the ones that are just so funny and comedic throughout, and have a large cast, so it feels just exciting and hilarious. Any show that makes a person feel like they “grew up” knowing the cast or feels subconsciously that the cast were like friends or family, will undoubtedly, not want to see them replaced.
Sometimes action is interchangeable. If it’s pure excitement, and some comedy and arousal, it won’t matter who’s starring in it, but if it’s a beloved/known/ cherished character like I don't know.. a James Bond possibly, then it’d be hard, at the very least, to move on.
Some people get attached to the characters, and some get attached to the cast.
So whether the actor or the behavior of the character changes, will be unnerving for some.
My personal nominations for “recycle,” would be:
Comedy:
- Archie Bunker’s- all in the family
- Married with children/kids
- the office
- new girl
Action:
- get smart
- mission impossible
- clearly fear factor lol
the exception are the shows that are loved a lot for the “variety” as well (always new members), hence the fear factor mention. I’d add the exception of the love boat to the list.

Get Smart has been redone already.
- +1 y
You can laugh only so many times at redone shows before it gets mundane. Plus remakes are rarely as good as the original.
- +1 y
Yeah, tell that to everyone you know, if you need to lol I still wouldn’t mind a remake of the list I put together. I wouldn’t go OUT OF MY WAY to make it happen, true, but if there was a chance for it, I’d definitely go out of my way to watch the previews, and a few episodes if it impressed me.
- +1 y
Another factor is can the producers make money off it. Some of those dumb shows like Gilligan's Island, I don't think enough people would watch it to make it worth their money to produce. Although I might like a new version of Three's Company, complete with all it's sexual innuendos.

Mcguyver and hawaii 5_0 are already remade and there is a quantum leap that came out this year as well.

+1 yI'd love to see a rewrite of "Strange Luck", a little known but great show that starred D. B. Sweeney. I liked Boston Legal a lot too. They brought back Dexter for a season and killed him off, but they could have kept it going with his son. That would have been cool.
By the way, I realize these re-makes are successful, but I think the new Magnum and Hawaii 5-0 suck, as does the tv version of the Equalizer. After years of Edward Woodward on the original show, and two awesome movies with Denzel Washington, watching Queen L. is a joke. Obviously, I'm in the minority on this opinion! LOL

+1 yNone- when has that EVER turned out well? Oh sure, people SAY that the new Battlestar Galactica was wonderful, even better than the original, but it was filmed in nauseavision (I literally threw up watching the introductory movie), and made an unfathomable number of people think that "battlestar" is two words (BSG is "battlestar ship group").
If you HAVE to do something, though... Maybe the Pirates of Dark Water. That never got a good resolution; it ended with the plot half-finished and a LOT of interesting ideas that never got a chance to develop.

I've been bingeing old episodes lately on YouTube.
I don't know if it'd work in this day and age, but I'd love to see it return.
Also, variety shows like Dean Martin, Carol Burnett, Barbara Mandrell, Ed Sullivan, Red Skelton, Hee Haw and so on.

Yep.
Bud Collyer hosted To Tell the Truth from 1956 to 1968.
Garry Moore hosted it from 1969 to 1976.
We could use Married... With Children and its based anti-establishmentism and rebelliousness now more than everything, taking the piss out of fourth wave feminism and woke culture. The CLOSEST thing we have to that kind of show now is Cobra Kai and even that is VERY subtle about it.
However, like almost all remakes and reboots, they'd just ruin it. It'd either be woke and completely against

its original message. So I think it's better not to remake/reboot anything at all, than to bring it back, just to ruin it and make it Woke. Look at the Animaniacs, He-Man, She-ra, Thundercats, and Powerpuff Girls reboots, just to name a few in animation that got COMPLETEELY f*cked over with sh*tty reboots.

+1 yThe really good TV shows of old should stay canceled... no remakes. You could bever meet the original quality.
Some of the average old TV shows might make it good as remakes. How about "The Love Boat - New Voyages"?

The first one was dreadful. I would rather see Fantasy Island. Who would they get to play Tattoo?
- +1 y
@Daniela1982 I'm too tall to play the part, but I can say the infamous opening line, "Look, da plen."

+1 yNone! Nearly every recycled show sucks compared to the original! I watched the first episode of the new version of, "The Prisoner" and sucked so badly, I never bothered watching any of the others!!

@FunkyMonkee
Yeah, the new 'The Prisoner' sucked.
It's been long enough since I've seen the original to watch it again. - +1 y
@nolabels Gots me the whole series on DVD and VHS! I'll be watching it again next summer, I suppose. Early fall seems to be the right time to watch it.
Usually, I'll start with The avengers in late Winter so I'm just getting to the Mrs. Peel episodes by early Spring and, by the time I'm done with that, I start Danger Man and SHOULD be able to switch over to The Prisoner by early fall and then Columbo (Pat was in at least 3 episodes and either wrote or directed a few others. He and Peter were pretty good friends!). - +1 y
@FunkyMonkee
I'll have to get the whole Prisoner set for myself.
I have a 'search and record' timer set on my DVR to grab them when they once again are played on a channel that I receive. It's been quite a while since I've seen any of them.
Probably since you and I talked about them a couple of years ago.
I'll probably give Danger Man another try also. I checked it out when you told me about it, but it didn't grab me like The Prisoner did. I think I was comparing it to The Prisoner instead of just letting it be its own entity.
The Avengers seem to be kind of hit and miss via Dish Network TV.
I currently have all the Columbo episodes on my DVR's external hard drive, which has been acting a bit persnickety lately.
The Columbo episodes that Pat was involved in were some of the best that they made.
Enjoy!

@nolabels There were 2 Danger Mans. The first series was only half an hour and he was an American agent working for NATO. The second series was an hour long and he had miraculously become a British agent! Technically, there was a 3rd one. After The Prisoner ended, and his fans were upset with the ending, they wanted more Danger Man so, he made two more episodes, this time, in colour and they were 2 parts of the same story.
A lot of people, to this day, STILL INSIST that The Prisoner's Number 6 WAS John Drake from Danger Man, no matter how often Pat says he wasn't! There ARE SOME elements of Danger Man that are related to The Prisoner! In one episode, he's taken by a very secret bus to a place called, "The Village" where they train spies to infiltrate with ordinary people and, once you're in, you can't escape! Another episode, "The Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove" is very weird, like The Prisoner! In another episode, he joins a kind of cult of assassins where, again, once you're in, you can't get out! And, several people in Danger Man show up in The Prisoner. At least 2 of them are Number 2! There are also several episodes, like, the very first one, where it's partially shot at what would eventually become, "The Village". There was also a guy in Danger Man who played the same role in two episodes of The Prisoner, but another character in two others!
Maybe if you watched them in chronological order, it'd eventually lead you into The Prisoner. - +1 y
@FunkyMonkee
lol
You once again have me intrigued! - +1 y
@nolabels Cool! I have every episode of Danger Man, too! Same with "Columbo, "I Spy", "Mission: Impossible", "Outer Limits", "The Addams Family", "Roswell", "The Wonder Years", "F-Troop", ""Chuck", "Heroes", "Lost In Space", "The Beatles" (cartoon), "Hogan's Heroes", "The Avengers" and, possibly a few others I've forgotten about.

@FunkyMonkee
I just finished watching all of The Outer Limits saved on my DVR and started on The Addams Family.
I haven't seen F Troop in years. Comedy genius.
I just did a quick read about F Troop on Wikipedia. Wrangler Jane was only 16 years old at the beginning of filming. I had no idea she was that young.
Of course, I was just 7 years old when the show originally aired, so I guess my infatuation with her at the time was acceptable. - +1 y
@nolabels No, she was 15! I wonder how Ken Berry felt about being 30 and kissing a 15 year old girl?
Melodie was also in a later episode of "Green Acres". She was MUCH prettier and I didn't even recognize her until I saw the credits!! I think was 18. I'm pretty sure it's the episode where she was dating Rusty Hammer, the young son on, "Make Room For Daddy" when he was a little boy.
I wasn't thrilled with her look on F-Troop. Her body was great but she wasn't that pretty. Ellie Mae was a LOT better!!
I have yet to see all of the newer Outer Limits episodes but I see they have all 7 seasons on eBay so, maybe I'll buy a set. The Monkees is usually insanely expensive or, I would've had a set decades ago!!
In the past 6 years, I've seen every episode of Green Acres and Barney Miller and almost every one of The Beverley hillbillies and McHale's Navy! For some reason, there's a few they refuse to show!! You can't even get the theme song on any episodes of the Hillbillies!! Even some of the incidental music is cut out!!
