I only had ONE game back then. Even if we had the money for multiple games, I wouldn’t have wanted any other one. There was just no desire, and only full satisfaction and heightened adrenaline/ excitement. In the Mario games.
Two were older ones passed down to me, but I played Mario Kart on the DS.
Ds was still the newest one on the market. Mario kart was still pretty new too. That game was everything. 😂
My best memory was bringing it to school (being the only one to have it) and being- essentially the ‘game host,’ as literally half my class (those with their nintendos) joined my game and we all raced. It was a field trip, so we had no work that day and were in the auditorium with other classes, and usually it was “movie time” for half the lunch hour, but we didn’t watch.
We all got serious (I even let kids who didn’t like me play 🙄😂, and kids who hated each other became pals; it was great) and we went hardcore on so many rounds for that half hour.
The other classes started looking, but we had to be quiet. We all laughed. The lunch lady told us to put them away (obviously), or she’d take them, so we sunk down in our seats and whispered and kept GOING 😂.
Best field trip/ best school day ever.
I once even stopped to pause the game MID-RACE, just to see the other kids’ reactions.
The reaction: a unified “aweeeeE” groan lol
Some didn’t know I had it and said, “who stopped it?” “What happened?”
And they all looked at me like cute little kids that they were 😂
We played the rest of the day and in class.
That’s one of my core memories and ALL the more reason why Mario Kart was the best game lol
That was a legendary story lol
Oh man you're taking me back! ; -) Thank you!
TOMB RAIDER the franchise and game series for one! The revelations one, I remember I played so much!
Tokyo Extreme Racer... is/was a MUST HAVE! LOVED driving the Toyota Celica 2000!
I also liked a lot of computer games like the SIMS and SIM CITY 3000!
It was great!
Lol I remember playing SIMS on my phone and it was a funny experience
I didn't know you could play sims on your phone back then already? Smart phones weren't a thing in the 90's - Early 00's.
You got me owned so hard😵☠
Thanks for MHO! 🙂
How to pick just one? Okay, I'll go by genre; I can limit it to that.
Strategy: Civilization. 4 for overall gameplay; Alpha Centauri for writing (yes, even in a grand strategy game) and mechanics (enemy's on another continent? Build a land bridge!).
FPS: Jedi Knight (Dark Forces 2) for singleplayer; Starsiege:Tribes for multi. I don't think most people would've believed it was a seven-year-old kicking their butts, but it was. Neener neener.
Adventure: Grim Fandango. Damn, but that game was amazing.
RPG: at the time, I'd've said Baldur's Gate, but looking back, I'll go with Planescape: Torment. It's not just a story, it's an EXPERIENCE, and almost more of a book than a game, but one that needs to be played, rather than read. If that makes it too elaborate, than Fallout 2. A wider and less focused (and definitely less tonally consistent than the original), but far more sandboxy experience that didn't have a stupid time limit hanging over your head for the main quest. Honorable mention: Arcanum. Gloriously unbalanced steampunky goodness; what other game lets you kill someone by dire charming a bear, walking it into the NPCs house, Mage Locking all the doors and windows, and dismissing the dire charm? Okay, Ultima VI, but that was EARLY nineties. And Arcanum lets you be a crazed, clinically retarded half-orc who ran away with the circus while you do it.
Hybrid: I've been staring at this prompt for a solid three minutes, unable to make up my mind between Deus Ex and System Shock 2. Play them both, then come back and tell me.

I've forgotten to be honest. We're talking about 20-30 years ago here.
Although, I do remember liking the arcade game Double Dragon and thinking it was amazing to be able to have the character I was playing as to pick up weapons off the ground and gain an advantage over the enemies. But that game was from the 80s! I recently replayed it and it was a huge let down. Much more primitive than what I remember.
So I think ganes from the 90s and 00s would be the same. I'd rather not kill the fond memories.
I liked Super Mario because it's perfect in difficulty - not too easy and not too hard. Loved to watch mega man but never played it cause I always died in the game within 5 minutes. I liked to play donkey kong and Sonic the hedge hog on a temporary basis but it was so easy I could not sustain long term interest in the game. I would rent it for special occasions from the video rental store instead of buying it since it was too easy for sustained use.
I liked mortal kombat, tomb raider, zelda, mario, sonic, I forgot what it was called but it was a boxing game, 007, I loved so many 😌 I miss those days
Mortal Kombat XL still awesome and 11.
@Curiosity2006 lol yesss, that's your favorite character?
lol Yup! The one getting disemboweled.
Jokingly, of course XP The 10 thousand souls!
Understandably XD

@Curiosity2006 how do you insert gifs in the comment?
For Christ's sake! The site's botched XP
You search for the Gif you want on Google, copy its URL Address (Link), make sure the link ends with. gif, and paste it here : P
OMG! That is so gory! Why'd you post that on here? :'(
XDDD That's an epic fatality! X)) However it was too large for the site to display it here, so we have to click on it and it'll take us to the original source instead.
@Curiosity2006 you started it! 🙃
I really suck at fatalities though lol
Ohhh it needs to be shorter huh, ok

@Curiosity2006 Or when liu kang says: "Knowledge is power" and he: "not power enough"
