Why is it that songs I used to dislike, now I started liking them?

Believe it or not, this is natural.

The same thing may happen with food, movies, books, sexual attraction - all sorts of things.

Just to give an example, I didn't listen to classical music really, but, in my early 20s, I began to listen a little more since we had a public radio station that constantly broadcast it.

Now, at 60, I will quite often listen to classical music and other music genres that I did not care for when I was young.

Keep in mind that there may be things you like now that you eventually won't care for or even dislike later.

This is all part of the wonder of your journey through life.

Well, yes, that can happen, but they types of people you are attracted to may change.
For me, it expanded over time for the most part, but, also, females who are conventionally attractive now do not necessary attract me. I see all these Instagram queens and they all look the same. Sure, the make-up makes them look nice according to today's "standards", but it's all fake and that sends a message of shallow vapidity and that's unattractive.

Compare that with Raquel Welch who just died this week.
Not once did she ever send a nude, do a nude pictorial, or appear in a nude seen.
She was gorgeous - naturally so - but she was also classy and not an idiot.

Look how she tones it down not trying to look sexy yet be stunningly attractive and classy.

If I was young and stupid, I would have found her attractive.
But, now, I am older and aware that all that makeup is really no different than being a clown and that the cleavage (with likely fake boobs) and her need to look like every other Instagram queen, and the very fact that she asked that "How Do I Look?" question screams "I am vapid, shallow, and insecure" and THAT is unattractive.

Makeup doesn't necessarily change a face that much that she looks ugly under it. Sometimes it just enhances already hot features. Many people say i look better without makeup and some say i look the same. Anyway, what i am trying to say if a girl looks super hot that doesn't mean she is a vapid and insecure

Yep… times change, you change, the music itself changes…

I don’t think a lot of people think about it, but all the production tools in the last decade or two, plus the accessibility of music production tools and software… it just takes one song or artist to blow your mind and give you a bigger glimpse into what’s possible.

When you come across something that sounds new and exciting, uncompromising and artistically bold, it can change your opinion on modern music pretty quickly… and at that point, it might re-contextualize your views on something you may have written off in the past.

Another big thing for me, is when a song sort of “engrains itself” into a good memory... I get it a lot when I travel, or have a really great time doing something out of the ordinary… and I think sometimes, music can just be ahead of its time. The more time moves, the more things come into their own, for various reasons.

I am not familiar with the song you mentioned but my tastes change too. Lately, I've realized some of my old favourites were very slow and being happy I prefer faster lyrics. I also switched from secular to religious after concluding that negative song lyrics could be bad for me. Like in the secular world there are many songs that have unsavoury lyrics like "love the way you lie" by Eminem.

I have and so has my dad. Sometimes when you listen to a song again, especially when you're older it grows on you, as you see it in a different light and start to appreciate them more, realizing it actually has substance. But the reverse is true as well. There are several songs I thought were cool when I was a kid, that I can't stand now.

There are a few modern rock bands/songs that I used to not like, but now I do. I'll post you some examples.

Tastes change over time! It goes the other way, too. Songs I used to love I can't stand anymore! However, in most cases, it's because radio PLAYS THEM TO DEATH!!!

I think it's normal. I'm a classically trained guitarist who plays mostly heavy metal / melodic metal. I used to despise Country music. Now I find quite a few songs that I like.
