This list has things I have ever started to read in the past, or haven't read for a while, or currently own but haven't started at this moment.

I'm not familiar with half of those. The only ones I've read are Wheel of Time and Hobit/LOTR.

I've watched the movie Dune and the series Game of Thrones. Neither are the type of books I'd read. I had planned on reading Martin, but after watching the series I decided not to.

Wheel of Time has it's good points, but some negative points also. It's a major undertaking.

LOTR is a classic that should be on the read list of everyone who reads fantasy. It's not the best story in the world, nor is the writing anything special. But it's still a classic which helped popularize the fantasy genre.

You mentioned Brandon Sanderson. He's the one who took over and finished Wheel of Time after Jordan died before finishing it. I thought he did a very good job. You could see the difference in writing style, but it wasn't enough to get in the way of the story. I'll probably read some of his own books when I get a chance.

I'll add a name that's not on your list. I really like Raymond Feist. He has great character development, probably the best I've read. His books tend to be page turners.

Also Robin Hobb and L. E. Modesitt Jr. You probably already know Terry Goodkind - both the positives and negatives. Tad Williams. Sean Russell - not too prolific or well known. I like Katherine Kerr's Deverry Cycle a lot - kinda different.
