I still get crushes on young versions of Cat Steven’s, Barry Gibb and Tom Selleck. John Travolta too. I watch all the old movies and think they’re good as there’s more story plot and talent and less sex, more like real life. I also genuinely think all these guys are more talented than most people these days in the music and acting industry. In general. With some exceptions.
+1 yI like some decent rock and roll. I grew up listening to Ricky Nelson, Willie Nelson, creedence Clearwater revival, Jethro Tull, Barbara Mandrell. The movies I liked are some of the old Black and Whites for example Casablanca with Humphrey Bogart. High noon with Gary Cooper. Any movies with Jimmy Stewart, Henry Fonda. I enjoy watching anything with Mel Brooks as the director; Blazing Saddles. Television programs, rawhide with Clint Eastwood, Hop along Cassidy, Roy Rogers, wild wild West, have gun Will travel. Comedians like Carol Burnett, Tim Conway, Harvey Corman.

Sinatra backed by Count Basie still has a ring of unequalled talent.Back in the day, before everyone was offended by EVERYTHING, movies like Smokey and the Bandits, Cannonball Run and Blazing Saddles were a lit of fun and still are. Then you have the culture shock of Deliverance.

+1 yI love music of all genres, dating back from 40s to todays. I prefer movies from the 90s+. I haaaate black/white cinema and anything before the 90s looks a bit too old to me unless its like a musical (Sound of Music, The Wiz, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Willy Wonka, etc) or a few others (Grave of the Fireflies, Back to the Future, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Miracle Mile, Die Hard, Mad Max, Commando, Rocky IV)

u +1 yIt depends on what you mean by "old music". I'll say this much though. The. Beatles. Are. GARBAGE!
As for old movies, I'm getting more into them. Trying to get better media at home, since my son is learning things now. I just ordered Ride the High Country. I haven't watched it yet though.

Agree, don’t like most Beatles songs and they are probably the most over rated band in history.
+1 ySome of the best movies are from the the early era. Check out Hello Dolly, the Glenn Miller Story, singin’ in the Rain, Oklahoma, The Music Man, White Christmas, Disney’s Happiest Millionaire, Young Frankenstein, and so many others. Each has so many pop culture references in them that will help you understand many jokes and references in comedies today.

One problem is that the Woke rulebook makes everything offensive. I recently looked at Cannonball Run because it is based on an actual event, a transcontinental race called The Cannonball Baker Memorial Trophy Dash. When Sammy Davis Junior (Jewish) was dressed up as a Catholic Priest, complete with Star of David on a chain around his neck, someone called him The Chocolate Monk. Snowflakes today would be pissing their Speedos. As they would have with Farah Fawcett's famous nipples. Postmodernism has taken the fun and quality out of everything.

I see. So racist depiction of foreign people and other racist motifs are ok in movies as long as it not about you. It’s funny that the only people who complain about things being ‘woke’ are those that are perfectly ok with racist, sexist, and/or antisemitic behavior. Seems like the only ones that still fjnd that shit funny are the racist.
Being ‘woke’ as you put it is just a way of being more sensitive to cultural differences and more inclusive to everyone whereas those that seem to complain about wokeness prefer the days of segregation.
Cannonball Run is a great movie, if a Jewish man wants to play a Christian roll then that’s fine. Many actor and producer have done that over the course of Hollywood history and you didn’t even know it. However it’s depiction of Asians is actually more offensive in its stereotypes. Just like Andy Rooney in Breaskfast at Tiffany’s is portrayal of Asians is extremely stereotyped and offensive.

I was looking at your list of musicals and thinking to myself, maybe I should hang out with gays more. On the whole, they do seem to have excellent taste in music, literature, and movies. All of those you mentioned are great.
Then you had your stupid woke rant and made me change my mind. I don’t feel like being lectured for an hour and a half by a sexual degenerate about morality, because I am very not woke.
@Dargil
You are so right. Woke killed everything. Movies, comedy…. all of society. It does take the fun out of everything.
@breanna
You are not a woman. You will never be. You’re not even good looking for a tranny. - +1 y
@Exterminatore first of all I’m not gay and second referring any group of people by a superficial characteristic is racist. And third you’re stereotyping gay people. More than that you’re an idiot so your opinion is as worthless as you. No one really cares what you think and beside what I think of myself is more important that what you think of me.

@breanna
I’m stereotyping people? And? I just told you I’m not woke. Telling people they’re a racist or whatever to try for the guilt trip only works on people who subscribe to that ideology. I don’t. So you’re wasting your breath.
Like the term homophobe or trannyophobe. Really? Like anyone is afraid of little queers.
Say what you want, you’re still a man and not a woman and will never be a real woman.

Asker+1 yI like that people didn’t focus so much on sex. I’m no prude either. The kinds of conversations my bestie and I’ve had about men.. are best not heard by men. Lol. But I like the cuteness of old songs and the old school behaviour in movies.
Asker+1 yBen, you’re a guy who knows me well in person and online and inside out. Can you please tell me social rules, like which date you’re meant to kiss, whether you’re supposed to ask, whether the guy or the girl makes that move and how long if you love a man, you’re meant to make him wait for sex, to be sure he’ll continue to commit to, respect and care for you? All of this is very confusing for me.
Asker+1 yNo one else will tell me and I’m scared to ask *Jack* in case he makes a move.
Asker+1 yNot feeding you a line. I genuinely don’t know.
