What do you think of the posthumous rewriting of the works of famous authors?

Roald Dahl's books are being re-released by the publisher with a number of revisions that eliminate "rude" language referring to fat people and other things. Ian Fleming's James Bond series may be similarly bowdlerized to remove "sexist" language.

The revisionists claim that the changes are to make the works more compatible with modern mores and protect people from being offended. Personally I find the whole idea much more offensive than anything contained in the books.
