What do you guys think about making Hermione and Harry Potter black in the remake?

OK I’m just gonna throw this out here because I feel like it’s kind of important.
The story takes place in the UK in the 1900s
And if you look at it, I don’t even think it’s like the late 1900s I think it’s more like the late mid 1900s so yeah, a black main character who is supposed to become like popular and stuff just doesn’t make sense not just from a statistical perspective, but also from a cultural one.


Like am I the only person who remembers Harry Potter getting picked on both for being poor and being born to Muggles? Now imagine he’s also black and he’s in the UK but not just the UK he’s in the UK in the late mid-1900s but not only that but he’s from a very old traditional school that teaches magic and one of the main house factions in that school is literally just a bunch of wizard nazis. Now imagine you’re also supposed to be like this chosen one or something so you also have the spotlight on you in everything you do. Now imagine to combine with all of that. You’re like this childhood prodigy, which is overthrowing a system that’s been in place for who knows how long. Now imagine you also have the biggest villain of his time going after you specifically.


Being poor and raised by a Muggle family is bad enough he had already nearly died plenty of times for making enemies just from those two things throwing being black, and I feel like would make his issues a lot worse.


Also, instead of re-swapping Harry Potter, they could’ve done something like fantastic beasts, and just created a new story in the same world. Like am I the only one who thinks it would be cool to see wizards in Africa? Like Africa already has some pretty interesting history when it comes to like which doctors and voodoo and magical stuff, as it is now imagine all of that being incorporated into a Harry Potter world. That would be freaking awesome. However, instead of taking the initiative to create a new awesome story, which could feature a new or original black character, located in a new area with a new unique story and culture they decide to instead remake the same story, but make the main characters black so that way the story makes even lessons from a cultural perspective.




Seriously though I really hope to see Disney make a Harry Potter story that’s original and has new characters and have it in Asia or Africa or like South America. Hell I think it Would be funny if they did it in Australia. But now they’re going to go re-swap the pre-existing character instead of making a new cool character in a new cool land.

I personally don't think it needs to be remade at all but if they don't make it then why can't these characters be black?

Does Harry's race shape who that character is at all? Is there anything about him being white that makes him be a better wizard or character you'd want to follow?

For me personally his race doesn't form who he is at all. He can easily be played by a black actor and still be compelling as a character because he's human.

If you don't like the idea of a character being black then it's because you don't like the idea of your "hero" being a black person.

You can absolutely look at a black character as someone you want to cheer for the same as you can a white character.

If you can't then that means you're too focussed on race. Focus on the character first.

You have to ask yourself, does this character being white absolutely positively make the character who they are? Does the race of the character forge that character?

They can if they want but I won't be watching it. I'm tired of the same regurgitated shit all they do is ruin the movies they remake. And do the same thing every time to the point where it's predictable. And lets be honest we're all tired of remakes, how about some actual original new and fresh movies with stuff we haven't seen before?

It's uncreative, unoriginal, boring among other things. They might get a more positive feed back if they actually chose actors for their talent rather then skin colour, and bothered to create original characters with their own unique personalities that add to the story. And create a new interesting story rather then just trying to take the original plot and twist it to their own wants.

Because right now the movie industry is stagnant.

Meh, who cares what they look like. It's pure fiction anyway. The stories are what made Harry Potter appealing. I do think Harry Potter remakes are most likely going to suffer by comparison with the original, even if they re-cast it with all white characters.

It doesn't need a remake, and if it were remade, the characters should look exactly the same as they did in the original, sound the same too, and have the same personalities, and every event should be the same. If you are going to make everything different, just make a new series instead of plagiarizing or rewriting the original.
