Do you think I killed it mercifully (animal warning)?

So me, I’m not a sadistic motherfucker who likes to kill just to kill animals. But it got to be done with pests once in a while, because you let them free, get them out, they come back and multiply, spread disease, etc.

I found a mouse in the house. Mice spread diseases, like HantaVirus which can be fatal. So I killed it. I didn’t do it the most dignified clean way, but I killed it completely instantly. It was on a sticky trap. So I took it outside, put some gloves on, and got a hammer. I didn’t want to miss and cause prolonged pain, so I put the top of the hammer (The center of the top. Not the striking surface, not the claw) to the back of it’s head, and struck the bottom of the handle. The mouse’s head was non-existent, not so much as a twitch after. It still makes me feel bad, but it had to be done. Is there any more efficient ways?

If I'm killing small game, I usually shoot it. Like for a rat or mouse, I'd get a pellet gun and shoot it in the head in the upper middle. If it was a rabbit, aim for right behind the eyes. But if you just want to kill them in a trap, get a snap trap. They work well. Or just club the head in or smack it against a table edge. They're pretty fragile

I don’t kill for fun, I kill out of necessity. Never been hunting, but I’m not opposed to it.

Exactly. I hunt and trap to eat and make money. Now, I do enjoy it, to an arguably indecent degree, but it's still ultimately done as a necessity.

Not legally. I was ACCUSED of shooting someone in the arm. It’s a no cooperation with law enforcement environment. The person I was accused of shooting killed my bestfriend in front of me. Shot him in the head. I was grazed by the same guy. Law enforcement comes, you deny any knowledge or you’re now a target for death. Then I was accused of shooting him in the arm, ofc he didn’t cooperate, no witnesses, etc.

You did- glue traps are inherently kinda cruel. Other types kill faster and are much less so.
