Have you ever accidentally killed a pet?

I feel so guilty. I have 2 lizards and one has always been dominant. When I got them I didn’t know anything about them and just did some online research and stuff to learn. I never knew I wasn’t supposed to keep them in the same tank together. But they had always been together so I thought it was fine.

The smaller one now won’t eat, he’s skin and bones and no matter what I do for him he won’t eat or anything. I know he’s dying bc he’s lost his appetite and won’t move as much anymore. It’s my fault why he’s dying and I feel terrible about it. The vet doesn’t know what to do bc it’s a reptile and there’s not much that can be done anyway.

Don’t get pets that you don’t know anything about!

Yeah, I accidently fried my anole. I was like, they're from the tropics, they're cold blooded, the tank has air holes, it'll be okay in the sun. It wasn't okay. It was tripple digits that day, and me and my mom left the tank on the patio and went to go run errands. We were only gone no more than 2 hours, and when we came back, we found Geico in his tank burned to a crisp. We felt so bad, but it never crossed our minds that a lizard could fry just from being in the sun.

I thought the same things with some of the stuff with mine. You think that they are resilient when they’re actually more fragile

Not a pet, but in my youth I accidentally killed a donkey by moving to a new pasture in the summer and parking a tractor atop the hose to his watering trough. It was very upsetting at the time…but it happens. You do your best, and you learn from your mistakes. Don’t be too hard on yourself.

When I was 10 years old, my father gave me a bird. The bird is so much cute, so It was time for bed and I went to bed. I remembered that he needed to sleep with me, I took the cage and put it next to me when I sleep. The bird died because of the air conditioner, Because of my stupidity. I still crying until now.

My lizard I believe he is dying and I keep trying to get him to perk up but I think it’s too late. He won’t eat or anything

He’s actually a leaped gecko I just said lizard bc I thought people would get it more

And I get what you mean with the vet situation. Finding a good reptile vet is hard.

There's a lot of conflicting information among the reptile community and things are constantly changing. I'm still constantly looking up things about bearded dragons. For years I used those awful red bulbs for heating at night (because at the time that was recommended) only to find out that that most reptiles can actually see the red light and it will disturb their sleep and even potentially blind them.

Same. For a long time I just kept them in standard bright heating lamp lighting. I didn’t realize that sometime their little bodies needed a break from that until later on. I got them a blue lamp

I don't know too much about gekos but it sounds like you just got some bad information (at least you tried to do research. A lot of people don't) it's good to look at many different sources.

Maybe your guy is dehydrated? Have you tried giving him baths? You could also try putting bee pollon in his food.

I haven’t tried giving him baths no but I do spray them down with water using a spray bottle a couple times a day. And thanks for the tip with the bee pollen. Honestly he hasn’t eaten for me in a while and I don’t know if he will even get out of how he is right now (he seems very coma like) but I am going to try bc I am desperate to save him

Won't hurt to try. You could also Use an eyedropper to drip water onto his snout. And no problem. Bee pollon is actually really good for them and it's the only way I can get mine to eat his veggies, lol. Hope you figure it out!

Yes. My neighbour kept letting his dog shit on my lawn and then denying it to my face even though I saw him. Long story short I deliberately backed over the dog when it was on my property and left the corpse on the neighbours's doorstep.
