I used to love Twilight when I was a teenager and then once the movie came out it got a lot of hate and I fell on the bandwagon but I secretly still always loved the books and movies and now that I'm older I can proudly say I love them again.
I heard they are coming out with a series and I honestly can't wait for that. I'm so looking forward to seeing what they do with it.
In all honesty, the hate during the original release was a lot more than it needed to be. It was mostly bc the concept of vampires presented by Stephanie Meyer were not the traditionally masculine, bloody creatures we had come to know and love, but there are plenty of valid criticisms of the series. For starters, Bella has no agency of her own until she herself is a vampire, the love interests were named after two of Stephanie Meyers’ brothers, and the way the series handles age differences and vaguely-mentioned pedophilia is… weird, to put it mildly.

Yeah that part of it I didn't particularly like but other than that I thought it was great.
Stephanie definitely knows how to write good love triangle tension, and her idea of the experience of living without a heartbeat is solid, and her side characters were great. But the series is not without the previous criticisms, as well as the fact that it centered around the most boring possible characters in comparison to the rest of the supporting cast lol

I still enjoy it, have all the soundtracks, movies on DVD, and saw all the movies in theatres when they came out. Read all the books too, but don't own them.
I think because it was so popular at the time it made a lot of people loathe it.
32 and still enjoy it, I'm not ashamed.

I remember watching the first film in theaters and loved every minute of it. I was in the 11th grade and we read the book in book club and went as a group in book club. It's nice to know there's someone who never was ashamed of loving them! Wish I could have been that way.

The only thing I don't like about twilight, at least up here, is that, that's when all the bugs come out and start flying around in my face and pissing me off!! I can't even sit outside and enjoy the early evening!!
