I don't think it is.
I think Barbie is re-branding itself from being an anti-feminist icon (unrealistic ideal body proportions) to jumping on the bandwagon of feminism (a little too late) to re-brand its image and popularity.
Nicky's song which is the title track is also funny to me. "It girls, all the barbies are bad"... The 'It girls' or rather the popular girls have never been the nice ones or the bastion of human rights. They are usually the power and popularity hungry kind and belittle other women to maintain their status. They are more like the 'pick me' girl who would bash feminism to kiss ass to guys.

I think that the Barbie brand has always tried to be a feminist icon, I think the movie was an attempt to establish itself. The thing about barbie is that although its ran and founded by feminists, It’s presentation doesn't seem that way, after all. The bodies of the dolls have unrealistic proportions and everything Barbie is pink and glamorous. It doesn’t really make you think feminism, does it? But i think that right now, No. The Barbie movie is not currently a feminist icon because It’s simply too young to be anything, give it a few years, It’ll be up there.
