+1 yIt depends on the type. Most old music, I don't have a problem with. As for new music, there really isn't very much of it! Most of it's rap, hardcore metal or country, pop princess garbage or some bastardized form of disco!
I prefer music that involves living people actually performing music on their instruments! Something that involves real talent! Not someone pushing buttons on an electronic gizmo to trigger pre-programmed shit.
I LOVE the music of the `60's and a little bit of the `70's but, I also love the `80's, `90's, `50's, `40's, `30's, `20's and probably beyond that! My record collection, spanning the past 130 years, or so, will attest to that! But, from the late `90's onwards, music has been almost pure shit!!00 Reply

In the realm of contemporary music, my predominant inclination lies towards compositions embodying unparalleled quality, boundless creativity, and abundant diversity. Interestingly, these attributes have undergone a substantial tenfold increase over the course of time, compared to the past eras. A fascinating illustration of this trend can be observed in the data representation of my favored musical genres on the website "rate your music," (Genres like Ambient, Dance, & Electronic) where a continuous and unceasingly ascending graph aptly showcases the ever-expanding landscape of musical releases.

+1 yWell, it depends, since "old music" covers a wide range. For me, I prefer old music from 70's - 90's, since you had a lot more artists who were popular that cared about the music a lot more especially lyrically.

Not saying no one does it today either, since I enjoy a lot of music created today.10 Reply 462 opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic. I listen to a mix of everything but if i have to pick one, I would pick classic rock from the 60s and 70s.
But as I said everything, music from the 1920s-50s, French Cabaret from the 1930s, classical music, OG Rap, rap, country music, folk and blues, 1980-2023 pop songs and whatever I find interesting at the moment.
The movie Saving Private Ryan got me interested in Edith Pilaf and French Cabaret so there are many prompts for further investigation in modern art such as the cinema.

Old because there are a lot great classic and legendary artists that the new have not come close to yet plus they were more pure songs back then that even the new generations enjoy nowadays. I am always for new but going back to old school is still much better.
10 Reply369 opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic. Old music, 50's through to 90's, with a very rare smattering of anything younger as the majority of today's music is reworking of what's gone before, and with the recording studio tools they have today they can make the mediocre musicians/singers sound fantastic.

u +1 yThe greatest composer in the history of music was J. S. Bach, and he died in 1750. But I also like music from the 1960's-1980's and some contemporary music.

It's hard to pick THE greatest composer. Bach is certainly up there but do are Beethoven, Mozart and others. I'm like you, enjoy the classics and also the golden oldies.

@AviatorTom I selected Bach because I enjoy playing many of his compositions on piano.

I listen to new to discover something fresh, or because the streaming service has decided for me.
10 ReplyI don't prefer either, it would be silly to confine myself to one music type instead of exploring different things to find out what i like. I love some old music, and love some new music.

10 Reply 364 opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic. Old. Today music, especially pop is trash. Repetitive instrumental that are only meant to sound catchy and nothing beside this. No complexity
