Why are comedy shows now lazy and watered down and not even funny compared to shows from the 70s like Sanford and Son and a few others?

Man, the comedy shows these days is whack compared to the classics like Sanford and Son!

Seems like the writers now don't even try. Everything gotta be so PC, they scared to say anything actually funny. No edge at all, ya feel me?

Back in the 70s they let it all fly, dude! Redd Foxx could crack jokes that'd get you straight canceled now. But that's what made it hilarious.

And the characters was so much more interesting too. Like Sanford was a trip and Lamont always trippin. You cared about em. These new shows the characters boring as hell.

Plus society loosened up more then. We wasn't so sensitive, could take a joke, ya dig? Now everyone wanna whine over nothing. Kills the comedy, man!

Wish they'd bring back some of that Redd Foxx energy. Dude knew how to make a whole crowd pop! None of these wack new shows hold a joint to the classic 70s lineups. Laaaaame.

They gotta let the freak flag fly again if they want people to laugh. This watered down stuff put me to sleep, son! And that's no lie.

Every time someone complains about how “nobody can take a joke anymore” or “why are none of these comedians funny” or “comedy is dead” I always get the impression that it’s just an excuse to be mad at a group of people you don’t like. I’m sure Sanford and sons is hilarious, so is Monty Python, and so is Cyanide and Happiness. It’s more likely you just want more black jokes, just going off of your example, than realizing that comedy is still around for other subjects.
