Tbh the Wizard of Oz was the first of a longstanding bookseries that included 6 novels, only two of which were adapted to film: The Wizard of Oz, and Return to Oz which was significantly more creepy than it’s 40-year-old predecessor. Whether that’s because of the nature of the books or because they tried to give it a new look for the 80’s is something I don’t know. However, I do know there’s a ton of lore about Oz that the movies don’t cover at all, not even that movie what’s his name did about becoming the wizard of Oz. Truthfully, with the writer’s and actor’s strike, they might just be running out of ideas so Warner Brothers would rather have scabs remake one of their most profitable movie musicals than acknowledge they need to pay their original crew

There's a writers strike & writers aren't coming up with anything original.

Can't see what they can add by remaking it. Judy Garland was iconic in it and an amazing singer.

I'm guessing it will be woke. Dorothy will be a gender non binary black lesbian, the tinman will be a trans-tin-woman referred to as they/them, lion and scarecrow will be gay together etc
