This is a special song to me too. The original brings back one of those moments that lives in my memory to this day. It was 1969 the favorite year of my life. A party on an ocean beach near my home at night with a big fire and dozens of kids mulling around. There was something magical about that night. The original version that had just come out was wafting through the air as the fire crackled and sparked through the air with the smell of the ocean all around. I was awed by the song that I never heard before. My closest friend in life was there... I lost him about 10 years ago. I can still see him standing around in a circle with a bunch of kids passing around a joint and taking a toke. Can't hear this song without thinking of him.
