2.7K opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic. Oh, gee, this is a good question. I know I must be forgetting about some others, but, off the top of my head, Spock's death in "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan".
Many of us knew it was coming because there had been rumors for a long time about Leonard Nimoy not wanting to do Spock anymore. Still, when it actually happened on screen (I saw the first showing on the first day in 1982), we were all silent and in shock a bit. I think we realized we were all witnessing history, but we were also caught up in the moment.Spock's death is considered one of the greatest death scenes in all of film history.

Oh! John Coffey's death in "The Green Mile".
https://youtu.be/CmxArNBJHFQ
What is equally upsetting is "Boss" Paul Edgecomb's anguish at knowing he will be the one responsible for ordering the actual execution of John Coffey, "one of God's miracles".
"On the day of my judgment, when I stand before God and He asks me why did I... did I kill one of His true... miracles, what am I going to say? That it was my job... it was my job?"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHH1EqPu2qA
Of course, the saddest "undeath" is Edgecomb's who, as punishment, God will force to live for centuries or even millennia as he watches everyone he's known and loved die.

Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yI think it's 2 fold. The death of Spiderman after the snap. Followed by the death of Ironman. Let me explain.
First off I think Tom Holland is the best Spiderman to date. We forget that because Spiderman is a hero he's still just a teenager 15-17 years. old. Ironman was sort of estranged from his father. So both he and spiderman being prodigies he feels a kinship with Spiderman. And him having no children sees himself as the father figure/mentor that he felt he didn't have. So when Spiderman starts to disintegrate due the snap. You see the genuine FEAR on Peter Parker's face. And you see how it affected Tony Stark. I have NO DOUBT that this is one of things that drove Ironman to give his life to save humanity. Because in a smaller way he was fulfilling the curse of the Stark legacy. In the lead up to it when Tony travels back in time he runs into his father Howard Stark and Howard says he'd like to Spend more time with his son Tony but he has to keep the world safe for him. Something that eventually costs Howard his life. Well in a sense Tony fulfills the same curse when he sacrifices himself to save the life of his "surrogate son" Peter Parker, and humanity. And there is foreshadowing to this in the movie when Tony learns how to Time travel. And he says to Pepper he doesn't want to lose what he's got, (a family something he didn't have really growing up). An this is what makes Stark a hero. You almost sensed that he knew he was going to die. But he did it anyway.
Both scenes had me bawling like a little b*tch with skinned knee.🤣

+1 yAsh Lynx from the anime Banana Fish. Lemmie just explain this one, it gets bad:
He grew up being forced into CP, getting assaulted daily. When he escaped this as an adult he became a criminal, experiencing the worst, most fcked up trauma imaginable. Bro's brother died, he was forced to kill his best friend, and when he finally met a person he could trust, he was stabbed to death RIGHT before he could run away with them. He died in a library seat, hiding onto a letter they gave him. Worst part is, the person had no idea he was stabbed, and left the country believing he rejected them. This shit is traumatising 💀

2K opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic. At the moment I'm torn.
On one hand, in one of the god of war games, you use poseidons "consort" to keep a door open where she gets slowly crushed to death. So you literally killed a rape victim to keep a door from closing.
In the other, it's an unnamed character in the novel Farlander. Girl got herself gang rape by soldiers, had a small shield tied to her arm and was thrown into an arena with monsters and other fighters. Poor kid didn't last a minute before being brutally killed.00 Reply

+1 yHmmm…. on pure “gahhh, you really wanted to see them make it”-factor, probably Tom Hanks’ character in Saving Private Ryan. I’d also put in a word for Ricky from Boyz N The Hood.
But I think the one that got me the most was Caine from Menace II Society. He wasn’t necessarily a good guy, but he was a sympathetic character, and juxtaposed to his crazy ass friend O-Dogg who made him look good by comparison. I guess their friend Shareef was the real victim, he was a good dude and not involved in the overall situation. But Caine was the main character and you were rooting for him to find his way out of the ‘hood for 90 minutes, all for it to end right when he was about to escape.

+1 yMovie wise nothing competes with Million Dollar Baby. I refuse to rewatch that movie purely because of what happens to the main character, since the movie leaves you with a very depressed feeling.
As for shows, these two deaths hit like a brick in Sons of Anarchy. Tara's death doesn't specifically, but Jax's reaction to it was done really well. However, Opie's death fucking hurts.

Asker+1 yOpies death was just like a slap in the actual face. I remember being so shocked and horrified in how it all went down. I think I read an article from the writer, who was also an actor on the show, who said something to the effect of we had to kill off the lovable character because we knew how everyone in the audience would react and how it would dramatically change the course of the show.
733 opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic. Hodor made me sad. The fact that he saw his death and knew what was going to happen but he continued serving the family. He was treated as a mostly boring and irrelevant character until his death by the writers and he was not appreaciated by anyone in the show either. And even afterwards most people didn't seem to care much but to me it was really impactful. I thought it was genius writing and I really felt for him and related to him. It was also the last good moment on the show as far as I remember.
Also in the Last of Us (the game) there were some sad deaths. The two brothers. When he killed himself after his little brother became infected and died it made their journey seem so hopeless, because everyone else around them just kept dying and giving up.

+1 yProbably Jack Dawson from Titanic. To this day I still think she could have gotten her ass on the other end of that door or board and they fit together on it.

Asker+1 yMythbusters proved that door thing! Beyond that though, Rose knew the guy for the length of part of a boat trip...undying love for him is a bit much. Watching someone very much alive a couple hours ago, freeze to death alongside you so you could live, traumatizing for sure, but I think it was more the overall sinking of the ship with all the stories of the people we'd just learned about, and contextualizing that, that makes the overall sinking itself far more sad.

Mythbusters proved that they both could have been on it?
Also, it was a love story nevertheless. It didn't matter that she just met him. They fell in love and that love was obviously felt by millions of people or else it wouldn't be called one of the greatest love stories of all time in cinema. That's what made the scene so sad. Yes it was sad that thousands of people died that night too but the story focused in on their love story so we the audience were invested in their love story and to see it end so tragically is what made Jack Dawson's death so sad.

Maybe I can borrow the Time Machine from Back To The Future & go back in time & bring her a rain coat. She was my hero in that movie.

Ed Norton's character in American History X. Who the fuck murders someone for blowing smoke in their face? That one made me more angry than sad though.
Also, Rambo's daughter and Madeline Stowe's character in that Kevin Costner movie. They went through all that trouble to save them, only for them to die.
And James Bond of course

Asker+1 yI don't know this one, any more details?

Haven't you watched Lelouch of the Rebellion? It's in Season 1.
So, Lelouch has this power "geass" his makes people do one specific task one time in their lives or it could be a perpetual task. So, he wants to overthrow the Britannian Emperor who is also is father. So, he is leading a rebellion as Zero and when Euphemia his half sister and first love finds out he is Lelouch, she proclaimed to give Japanese their own colony with semi autonomous government. By doing so, she ends up blundering as Lelouch doesn't want to reverse what he is leading. So, inadvertently, get this at the just wrong moment, his geass goes out of control and ends up making Euphemia order to kill Japanese people or Elevens. Lelouch ends up having to kill her.
All in all, it's a really good anime. You will like it
