When I was young, it was the "death" of Alicia in the first season (1959) episode "The Lonely" of "The Twilight Zone". Alicia is a robot and we all know this, but seeing her "dying" at the end was upsetting to me as a little kid.
When I was a teen, there was another "The Twilight Zone" episode that I unexpectedly had not seen before: "To Serve Man". The ending in that one is a mindfuck.
Finally, in the remake series of "The Outer Limits", there's an episode that really is upsetting. I had a friend who was 12 years older than me and he knew the original "The Outer Limits" better than me and he was messed-up by this one. I was so surprised that this would affect him so. So, that made me not feel the shock so much, but it still is a bit mindblowing. The episode is "The Light Brigade".

"The Outer Limits" has a lot of messed-up endings with disturbing deaths. Like this one in which a man is trapped reliving the moment of his death forever...

Or this one in which the President realizes he attacked aliens who'd be our friends.

This one is good because it's a death of a guy like Trump long before Trump became President.

This death was REALLY messed-up! "He was a bad man. So I turned him into a Jack-In-The-Box. A Jack-In-The-Box that still had his bad face."

This death did not mess me up since we were expecting it, but seeing it was still upsetting.
Arguably, the most famous death in movies.

Although this one is also famous and did mess up a lot of people including me.
I did a lot less swimming after that even in my own pool!

1 yGood choice! For me it was the girl from "13 reasons why"? I'm still haunted by it. For a few weeks all the students at my HS were fucked up about the whole series. It was like this weird unspeakable climate we all inhabited where we knew it was fiction but...

Oh yeah I forgot about that one. That one messed me up for days.

1 yArtax, from the Neverending Story. I'm sure it hit harder, because I was just a kid, but still... that poor horse. And his only failing was "being sad", in a place designed to induce sadness, while on a supposedly impossible quest to save the world.
I was very angry at that movie for quite a long time, but eventually I discovered that in the original German, the luck dragon's name is "Fuchur", which is pronounced in English just how it looks, which amuses me to no end.
10 Reply2.2K opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic. Ben Randall in the guardian. I didn't expect much from a movie with Aston Kutcher in it but this movie didn't disappoint. This clip really doesn't do this scene justice without understanding the full movie. But Ben's entire life has been about saving people in the coast guard. There's even a scene where Ashton's character (who is a young snotnose hot shot swim team champion) asks Ben what his real number is (that is the amount of people he's saved). And Ben responds 22. Ashton shocked by only 22 in such a long storied career responds in disbelief. Only to have Randall say "22 is the number of people I wasn't able to save, that's the only number I ever felt worth counting" driving home the point that they are rescue swimmers and this is thier job not for glory. And in the end in this scene Ben knowing his career is at an end makes the logical choice to sacrifice himself so Ashton's could live because it would mean more lives saved in the future. But so strong was Ben's presence that the very end suggests that his spirit lived on to protect those in danger till help could arrive "The Guardian". When this guy in distress gets in the helicopter he said "he was with me the whole time, he said he'd stay with me till help arrived" and then he said "he didn't let go". Which is a nod to a earlier scene in the movie where they're talking about a rescue where Ben saved a guy when the winch on the helicopter jammed and they couldn't pull them up and Ben held onto the guy the entire flight back tearing every tendon in his arm in the process. He promised the guy at the time "I won't let go".
I highly recommend this movie

1 yThe thing about GOT is how it though people for a loop about how noble and good people don’t always win (at least on earth). It’s painful but there is some very painful realism in it.
But also it does show that while it might take a very long time everything eventually comes in full circle. Think about Roose Bolton who was an absolute sack of sh*t. He has a bastard son Ramsay Bolton (that was a product of a brutal rape). Ramsay is 10x worse then his father. One of the top 3 most heinous evil characters in the whole series if not the worst. What happens to Roose? He’s murdered by his own son. What happens to Ramsay? He’s eventually given a just brutal death by being fed to his own hounds. But this is after years of carnage, torture and evil he inflicted on people.
Another realism is that “there is no honor among thieves” and they eventually eat each other. Honorable people can at least trust each other more.

1 yI wouldn't say it "messed me up". It's just a movie/show, but of course there were some that I wasn't too happy about.
But the one that probably riled me up most was Danny's death in "American History X". He literally got killed for blowing cigarette smoke in the face of a black kid, who was beating on a White kid.
