I voted for Batman because:
1) he doesn't have any "superpowers" so, in a sense, he's more realistic, and,
2) if Peter Parker ever has to move to a prairie state, he-as-Spider-Man is screwed because he won't be able to swing from building to building. Can you imagine a TV show "Spider-Man in Kansas"?

They both are two of my favorite American heroes.. But I'll give the edge to Spider-Man simply because I always loved that he's slim acrobatics spider moving guy with strength on par with somebody like Luke Cage..
