For all the photographers out there, what kind of photography do you like to do?

I do like photography and my favorite topics are nature and astrophotography. I spend quite a lot of time outdoors searching for details and unusual views or angles.

I am just starting with astrophotography as it is a very complex topic requiring a lot of patience and dedication.

I was at my parents' place over Christmas and on 12/26 we had a full moon that I managed to capture with a Nikon CoolPix P1000. The image is not very clear as I took it through triple glass window and without a tripod at a focal length of 2600mm with an exposure time of 1/125 second, f/7.1 and ISO 560

Astrophotography is awesome. Have you shot any long exposure star trails, or eclipses?

I have tried to shoot long exposure star trails but in my location, it is nearly impossible due to the light pollution. I have plans to move to an alpine location later this year where I would like to attempt to take better shots. One specific location that interests me is the Jungfraujoch in Switzerland where they have a small high altitude observatory.

Once you get out of the urban centers, it's amazing how bright the Milky Way is. When I did a lot of travel for work, my colleague, who wrote a book on night photography, and I would go to the national parks (Monument Valley, Arches, Yosemite, etc) at night and freeze our asses off while he shot star trails. Once you're in the mountains, you'll get some amazing shots no doubt. That observatory in Switzerland looks incredible. You better start working on your yodeling skills so you can communicate with the locals.

Thanks for the tips. I am fluent in German and French and thus, it should be no problem communicating. However, a few lessons in yodeling would not harm I presume.
