Is watching anime childish?

The older generation will never understand it. But no, it's not childish in the slightest. There are many animes that are darker, have more philosophical concepts, and have more mature content than normal shows. Just because something's a movie or show is an animation does not make it immature or childish. That's a very close-minded way of thinking.

And people who think it's a waste of time are the ones who waste their time and money on other things like sports, alcohol, parties, restaurants, drugs, etc.

If anything it's more mindless to watch others that make millions play sports and get all hyped up about the team or player you support more over and over again, even betting on it, when you can watch an anime that stimulates your mind much more.

Life isn't all about working hard and productivity. You need to learn to enjoy your time and have pastimes.

No, I mean depending on the anime of course.. It seems like a lot of places in the West think cartoons are just for kids.. It's no really no more childish than watching sports, or being so into Celebrities.. Not to mention all the violence and adult content and themes many anime have.

Depends on what it is. Anime isn't a genre, it's a medium. Sailor Moon and Pokemon have the same style as Death Note and Akira. Hell- Attack on Titan has themes of war, genocide, grief and takes HEAVY inspiration from the holocaust. A child would get immediately turned away from that.
That's not to say that anime isn't mostly made up of characters going OH😮 and KYAH😝... I mean, it's a pretty cringey medium. But there are shows for kids, teens and adults littered in there. You don't look childish watching Family Guy or Rick and Morty

I get called childish but don't care - alike most genres of fiction there are animes tailored towards children, and there are others tailored towards adults.

I think it gets labelled as childish because animes are Japanese cartoons, and most people stopped watching cartoons at 16. But if its something you enjoy you should not let comments stop you, when I was in Japan, men and women who appeared 30+ would sit on the train and watch anime on there phones, many looked accomplished and had families etc.

I believe having child like hobbies as an adult is very therapeutic and beneficial. If you take yourself too seriously you could get depression or immunity problems from stress. Being child like is a coping mechanism that helps you buffer the harsh realities of daily living.

There's a lot that are not for the faint of heart.

With most characters always being highschoolers its easy to think that it would be.

Seems the Japanese are a little... odd like that.

But yeah, most anime is childish but that doesn't make it a bad thing. You can be an adult and still like anime even if it's a but childish.

I used to think that about my adult friends who read Harry Potter. But at least they’re reading. I imagine anime can get pretty intricate and being passionate about something usually a good thing.

Not at all. If you act like a child then that's being childish. Parents really likes to nag a lot if you don't listen or respond to them immediately. Just watch it moderately so that it won't affect your daily life
