These definitely come to mind lmao
+1 yYo okay lemme think, there was this one song i used to sing all the time as a kid that had some pretty mature lyrics lookin back.
It was that "Baby Got Back" song by Sir Mix-a-Lot. We didn't really understand what the lyrics were really talkin about at the time haha, we just liked the beat. But man, if my parents knew we were out there singin about big butts and touching girls in places, they definitely woulda had a talk with us!
Another one was "Pony" by Ginuwine. Again didn't get the double meaning as a little kid, but the grown folks probably woulda choked if they heard me belting out "Do you wanna ride?" hahaha.
And don't even get me started on all the rap songs we'd mimic, talkin about poppin bottles and ridin dirty. No clue what any of it meant back then. Just sounded cool I s'pose.
I'm kinda surprised we never got in trouble singin any of that stuff lookin back. Teachers and parents musta just thought we were bein silly. Had no idea the kinda messages were in a lotta those songs!

They were probably singing it themselves lol

Hahaha for real girl! I never even thought about that but you're so right. Our parents were definitely young and jamming to all the same stuff back in the day. Probably belting out all the raunchy lyrics right along with us without a clue.
Man, I can just imagine my mom now getting down to "Pour Some Sugar On Me" back in 1982 or whatever. Head banging away while my dad is doing his best impression of Vince Neil on the mic. That's hilarious!
They were probably sitting there enjoying the tunes with us totally oblivious to what it was really about. And then we start singing it and they're like "oh shit, I guess we should have been paying attention!"
Too funny to think they were just as clueless. No wonder they didn't care - we got it honestly from their generation! Their dirty little rock and roll secret is out now I guess haha. Totally explains how we flew under the radar with all that. Thanks for the laugh lol, now I gotta go pull up those songs and tease my parents with their past karaoke sins! đ

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yEven worse. I taught dance in a school program, and I guess I REALLY was not thinking, but I choreographed a whole dance to 2005's Buttons for these 8-11 year old girls, and like halfway through rehearsals with them singing and dancing, one of the Admin was like, um, do you think this is an appropriate song choice? I had been so into just the beat of the song vs actually listening to the lyrics, that when I really did pay attention, ohhhhh crap!!!!!! LOL

+1 yIn an effort to spite his firstborn and annoy his grandson (I presume) my great-grandfather taught my siblings the lyrics to "Four for three"- and the lyrics to the more polite (or at least less bawdy) version, "Lilly the Pink", with the instructions that they only sing the latter when our parents or grandparents were around. I was too young to understand at the time, but cheerfully joined in the singing.

+1 yhttps://www.youtube.com/embed/2WBVLCvMSuEhttps://www.youtube.com/embed/0DOv0-2yyfEOver the hedge film, ârockin the suburbsâ Verse 1:
Let me tell y'all what it's like
Watching Idol on a Friday night
In a house built safe and sound
On Indian burial grounds
Sham onAfter I was old enough to realize the second to last line in the FIRST verse? I never sang it again lol
later the song mentions something along the lines of mom and dad âjuggling bills and credit cards.â
That song with appropriate mention, gives off racist, and chauvinistic undertones.
âPumped up kicksâ
I didnât sing again when I learned of the dedication of the song and the meaning behind the lyrics. Sadly, at one point, it did inspired negative talk from younger problematic teens/kids. Iâm saying the ones who faced problems that they couldnât cope so much with. A lot of immature kids made jokes about it as well. Since itâs catchy it also gave a negative encouragement for teens and young kids who liked the melody and didnât or later pieced the song together.
Iâm surprised I was able to sing these two, but eventually my mom told me not to for the second and she didnât catch on about the first, since itâs âremade for kidsâ and actually placed in a kids movie.

1.2K opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic. The one that occurs to me is Led Zeppelin's "Lemon Song", released in 1969 when I was 15. My mom was shocked by the lyrics:
Squeeze me, babe, 'till the juice runs down my leg
Do, squeeze, squeeze me, baby, until the juice runs down my leg
The way you squeeze my lemon-a
I'm gonna fall right outta bed, 'ed, 'ed, bed, yeah
It wasn't singable, but she tripped out hearing it blasting through my bedroom door. LOL She didn't say anything but I remember the shocked look on her face.11 Reply- +1 y
