@potteplante As kids, we often played cops and robbers, or cowboys and Indians. Pretend killing was pretty common, though we always knew it was just pretend. RPG video games are the modern equivalent, with emphasis on realism, not pretend.

@AviatorTom we never played to pretend to kill our teacher or sang about it, I asked my mother if they did something similar growing up (because I'm absolutely flabbergasted that people did so and without any consequences) and her answer was the same: absolutely not. For me growing up and had I done that, I'd be having some serious conversations (and probably a couple of knock on the heads from dad) and my mom would've gotten her ass whipped.

Not fan of the black school pedagogy but damn... If that was the norm back then, I can see how it has become the norm today (not being so much pretend anymore).

Our elementary school wanted to promote cultural and racial acceptance so we would learn African worship music and Jewish music in my ESL classes. Now that would be considered persecution because you are forcing people to be exposed to songs from religions they do not follow.
