I'd say scenes from the original Gone in 60 Seconds (1974). It was filmed all over Long Beach and San Pedro, places I was very familiar with. There was some crazy driving and car crashes.
In1980, I met and became friends with Toby Haliki, who made the movie. It was an independent movie with no professional stunt men or union people from Hollywood involved. And he didn't have any permits to do that stuff on the streets and freeways.
It was the first movie that featured lots of car chases and crashes. Hollywood took note and began making action movies that featured the same kind of things. Now car stunts are ubiquitous.
I even read that the movie were inspired several people who saw it to become actors or directors. Nick Cage is one I can remember. He talked a lot about Toby. Toby was a freaking amazing guy.
He released a second movie called The Junk Man in 1982. Sadly, he died in 1989 in a freak accident while filming a third movie.
