On my way to work this morning I heard this on the radio. I have heard this a thousand times but never really listened to it. Her voice with the lyrics written by Linda Ronstadt really jumped out at me. She really does a good job with this live version from the Johnny Cash Show.

I just remember loving somebody so much it hurt and she really didn't care if she ever saw me again. It felt just like that.

That is so beautiful! I totally remember that song but haven't thought about it in decades. I love the music from that period (the 60s).

She was absolutely gorgeous. And damn could she sing!. Although I read that she was insecure about her vocal ability.

First time hearing it.

I've genuinely thought about this and it's wrenched my heart thinking about all the girls I've let down as gently as I could. I never didn't feel like an asshole for rejecting them. Even if it's for a justified preference, I felt like an asshole. This is why I prefer men pursue. I'd rather they reject me than I them.

This is a double standard that conflicts with equalization of gender rights and social norms, but that hasn't changed how I felt.
