In a fictional story, should white characters be more important than non-white characters so that they don't call the story woke?

You don’t have to, there is plenty of manga without white characters that don’t get called woke. And its not those that might call your story woke you should be worried about. Its the vile people who supports banning Life and times of Scrooge chapter 11 because of Bombie the zombie

So the story needs to be stigmatized in some way so they don't call it woke? Interesting... is the fact that black characters look like animals and are drawn disproportionately a cool thing? They don't look like humans, they look like beasts. I can understand why they don't like it. My characters are drawn proportionally. They are not portrayed as dumb, ignorant animals. Do you think it would be woke if my characters looked human and not mindless beasts in human form?

By the way, Most manga don't have white characters because manga is a Japanese thing. White people usually think all Japanese characters are white, but most are Japanese. You're trying to talk about comics. Apparently drawing non-submissive, non-dumb and ignorant black characters is woke.

By the way, Foola Zoola, the guy who sends Bombie after Scrooge is drawn proportionally, and is neither dumb or ignorant. He sends Bombie after Scrooge to punish Scrooge for burning down his village.

... if your first concern is about what your character looks like (race/gender/sexuality), you failed. Now you are basing the story around those small traits of the character rather than their personality and the plot and how it is driven. Create a good character that is relatable and has goals so they can develop and carry the story to be a good one.

My first concern is with the story, plot and personality of the characters. I just don't ignore the fact that there are people who are uncomfortable with gender, race and sexuality. If someone decides a story about the life of a trans girl, do you think the probability of the story being called woke is small/nil or would the probability be high even though it is an original and new story?

Depends. Are you promoting tansgenderism as a focal point of the story and on the summary on the back of the book for readers to see before buying it?

You are appealing to a small audience with transgenderism, man. That is why the ROI won't be that high in my eyes.

Just about life and experiences, without focusing on the fact that she is trans. Being intellectually honest, do you really think they wouldn't call the story woke if the story was just about her life?

Again, my opinion is just an opinion, but that doesn't answer my question. How much of the story is focused on transgenderism and the experiences you are talking about? People may call it woke, but since it is a new character you are making from scratch and not hijacking from an established IP I wouldn't consider it woke.

I would more than likely not read it as a person because I don't see myself relating to a trans individual at all. What is the story about? What are the key plot points? Why should a new reader invest in your story? Is this book targeted to a specific audience? If so, who is the target? At this point I am asking about these because your marketing will need to come into play as well.

It wouldn't be focused and talking about transsexuality. She's trans and that's all. Experiences that almost everyone has, personal problems, family life, romantic relationships, etc.

I think for anyone who doesn't see problems in trans people. But does it matter? I mean... even if the story is aimed at a certain audience, the chances of the non-target audience attacking with woke accusations are still high.

Your character being trans isn't an issue. I asked these questions for a reason. It will boil down to your marketing and audience which will reflect on the sales of the book itself.

So, if your character is trans, fine, don't care. If your story involved romance and about trans life, I wouldn't read it because I do not wish to read about transgender characters or romance with them as it isn't what I as a reader am interested in. My genre of literature revolves around thriller, horror, military and espionage, so I wouldn't be interested as reader outright. Your concern about non-target audience shouldn't be taken into account unless it revolves around your writing style because they are otherwise attack the story for values they themselves don't align with. Critique from them should only be entertained if it revolves around your story's plot progression, structure, pacing, character development, etc. Those that don't like trans focused things will either ignore it or call it woke pandering, you can't control that. Don't focus on that.

Focus on your target audience and the story you are trying to deliver with the genre and themes and plot points. If this is catered to a trans audience, fine, nothing wrong with that. Just understand the trans population and community as a whole isn't a large market and if you are hoping for some massive profit or franchise around it, your ROI will be limited and that is pending their liking of the story as well.

So while the Wheel of Time was started in 1990 and finished in 2013, their are several parts that I might consider modernized views. However that happens with all writing of stories.

The Wheel of Time cast is so varied in the books that it adds to the story instead of distracting.

I consider this series on the knife edge balance between readable and wokeness.

A Song of Ice and Fire is done correctly.

If I created a story, I simply wouldn't create white characters. The problem is that most people think that a story like this can only exist if it is linked to a mythology or culture, for example: The Black Panther film is linked to African mythology and culture, people still called it woke, but many people just liked it and didn't see anything wrong with it. If the author decides to create his own universe and by coincidence all the characters are black, they will most likely call it woke even though white and Asian artists have already done it and still do it.
