Why are American movies and movie stars so famous compared to other actors around the world? Is it because America pays its actors the most?
I think Hollywood not only pays them the most but they shove them into the media spotlight and treat them like royalty.
If we compare to here in Japan, even top actors often just make six-figure salaries and don't get that much media attention. They're actually very down-to-earth people typically; I've met some in bars in Tokyo (they just showed up alone) and it's not like people are worshipping their feet with paparazzi following them around.
Meanwhile, when Vin Diesel comes to Tokyo, everyone worships him and he gets VIP treatment. It's a very different level of idolization.
