In an unrealistic, brute force on force matchup, the Rhino wins.

When these two meet each other in nature however, the hippo "wins" (chases off) the Rhino almost 100% of the time. This is largely because hippos are much more aggressive and territorial, but they also easily ambush rhinos in or near watering holes due to the Rhino's poor eyesight (and exceeding stupidity), and it doesn't really have any incentive to actually fight back except to protect its babies. It's very rare that these two would ever actually fight with the intent to kill though because both are herbivores, so this inherently favors the Hippo's indiscriminately violent defense tactic of acting the crazy kid on the block.
