about thirty men survived by climbing on the capsized Collapsible B, which was never launched and floated off the ship as she took her final plunge. Among the most famous occupants were second officer Lightoller, radio operator Harold Bride, first class passengers Archibald Gracie (who wrote one of the first books on the tragedy and died a few months later, quite likely due to the toll the ordeal had taken on his health) and Jack Thayer, and chief baker Charles Joughin. Most of these men were located at the forward end of the boat deck (near the collapsible boat) when the ship went down, but a few were in the stern and swam a relatively long distance to the boat, Joughin among them. A few men died during the night, three or four it seems, including third class passenger David Livshin and possibly radio operator Jack Phillips (but this is heavily disputed). Many of the survivors in this boat were crewmen, a lot of engine room personnel as I recall.

As in Collapsible B, most of the survivors were already at the forward end of the boat deck when the final plunge began, but not all. Several people died in Collapsible A during the night, seven according to a survivor, perhaps even a dozen or more. The bodies were thrown overboard except the last three. Among those who died in Collapsible A were first class passenger Thomson Beattie and third class passenger Edvard Lindell.

seven men were picked up by Boat 4 under Quartermaster Walter Perkis, the only one that went back immediately to pick up survivors from the water. These were: fireman Thomas Patrick Dillon, seaman William Henry Lyons, stewards Andrew Cunningham and Sidney Conrad Siebert, storekeeper Frank Winnold Prentice, and possibly greaser Alfred White and second class passenger Emilio Portaluppi (the identity of the latter two is less certain). Several of these men, including Dillon, Prentice and Cunningham, seem to have come from the stern. Siebert and Lyons died after being rescued, the others survived. Previously, Boat 4 had already picked up lamp trimmer Samuel Hemming, who had climbed down the used falls of another lifeboat and swam over to Boat 4 when it was about 200 yards from the ship.

four men were picked up by Boat 14 under fifth officer Lowe, who went back later. Three have been identified with certainty: third class passenger Fang Lang, steward Harold Phillimore, and first class passenger William Fisher Hoyt. Hoyt died shortly afterwards. The identity of the fourth man is unclear, some identify him as Portaluppi but personally I think he was rescued by Boat 4

I hate that humans think that we're invincible. They once called the ship "unsinkable". There's no such thing as anything being "un" anything. Humans need to realize this

No... and some of them were less than half full. There weren't enough for everyone on board as the ship was assumed unsinkable and the extra boats made the top deck "look too cluttered". They floated past people freezing to death and asking for help.

Yes, there were a few remarkable stories of survival from the Titanic where individuals were saved without being in a lifeboat.

One notable example is Charles Joughin, the ship's chief baker. According to his account, Joughin survived by treading water for about two hours before finding a wooden board to cling to. His survival is often attributed to the layer of fat he had, which might have helped insulate him against the cold, and possibly, the alcohol he consumed, which he believed kept him warm (although it's more likely the alcohol could have impaired his judgment and awareness of the cold). He was eventually picked up by a lifeboat.

Another famous case involves Jack Thayer and Milton Long... Long did not survive, but Thayer managed to make it to an overturned collapsible lifeboat and stayed on it until he was rescued.

These instances were exceptional, as the icy waters of the North Atlantic were lethally cold, and survival without a lifeboat was extremely unlikely. Most people who ended up in the water succumbed to hypothermia within minutes

Same. He wasn’t likely to have survived and got drunk instead, he helped others into the life boats as well. I’m not sure if it was him or someone else but I think he was the one that survived two ships sinking

I know a guy in his early 40's and he said his grandparents were on the titanic. I do not know how he was born if this is true.

I recently heard about a guy who was pulled from the icey waters and was drunk as a skunk. They still don't know how that was possible as the thinning of his blood should have made him more susceptible to the cold.
