Why does Hollywood regurgitate its own stale vomit?

Because they are out of ideas and they are lazy. They are reliant on today's technology they think because they throw in some cool special effects or special effects are the main draw of the movie (Avatar) They think if they do that then they don't have to have good actors portraying characters that have depth and are relatable, no need to go shoot on location anywhere just do a green screen, don't need a good story or good camera work. They want to take something that's already established and familiar in people's minds, swap swap race and/or gender a few dashes of wokeness put the blender till it's a hot mess. Oh don't forget we need some girl power action so be sure to have powerful female characters and make sure you have them at least once preferably a few times give a guy a devastating hard kick to the balls so he drops to the ground and is down a long time groaning in pain. Say that's a wrap release it to the public. Then somehow act shocked of why it wasn't received well and why it lost money. Terminator dark fate for example
I think this applies to all industries, but… there are people with talent and there are people that have little to none.
Stop placing so much value on education and degrees… it’s like everyone assumes you have talent just because you’re educated, and that is often times not the case.
It’s like 8 out of 10 people are just there to collect a paycheck anymore and contribute little to the actual quality of the end goal. Just cogs in the machine, moving everything forward. “Are we still below budget?” “Ok good, carry on.”
Meanwhile nobody asked if what they were making was actually any good or not… no overarching creative vision anywhere to be found. Just generic plots and buzzwords driving everything.
“Well it worked before, it should work again.” Which — that only works in some industries, not something artistic and purely creative that profits off of original ideas. But these “smart, talented educated people” don’t seem to realize that… 🤔🤔 Hmmm…
'Indiana Jones and the Geriatric Crusade' might be his next film if he doesn't die of old age first.
I'll tell you why (gets on soap-box). Hollywood has run out of both courage and ideas. They never take a chance with something new, simply because it's not about entertaining people anymore, but making money, and lots of it. So they go with what they think is a "sure thing" with the largest audience on the planet; the Chinese. They're owned by the commies, they receive their orders from the CCP. Their executives have been bought, they sold out, and now they're churning out CRAP that doesn't even make sense. Stupid super-hero films and remakes.
Go with the independent film-makers, or films made by other nations like South Korea and Germany. Forget Hollywood, it's gone, it's now irrelevant.
The way I respond is the Jewish example. Jewish music is far more beautiful than pop music but it requires a healthy mindset and a desire for growth, for somebody to like it. Boobs and money appeal to almost everyone so it’s the most lucrative denominator.

Would you rather they regurgitated yours?
Regurgitated what of mine?
@handsomelad70 Vomit.
Thanks, but no thanks.
Far too few non-white lead actors.
@handsomelad70 Well, you're free to eat more of them whenever you'd like.
Lots of reasons. Greed, arrogance, social influence, activism, etc. but a society as a whole- we’re pretty creatively bankrupt. It may sound hyperbolic, but this is a symptom of a much larger issue: our society is dying. We don’t create anything new. Our biggest advances are computer and algorithm/AI related. Cultures stagnate before they either rapidly change or are conquered.
There have been some remakes msde lately. Roadhouse is one of them. They are making a remake of Twister as well. There is also going to be a movie based on the old TV show The Fall Guy. I think that is is so expensive to make a movie it is safer to recycle an old movie than gamble on a new and original idea.
quite simply: cause big banks decide who they wanna give a loan to. and they will much more happily loan big money for a movie franchise that already did well in the post office than to a complete newcomer.
it's only logical from a risk management perspective. banks don't care if people like the movie. they only care for the profit.
Some do work, some don’t, a load of movies were shot between the 20’s and 70’s. If they did not remake them, you would not get to watch a number of movies that have been remade. Are you saying no more remakes?
Less remakes, no reboots.
What is the difference?
Ah of course you have seen them all in your ‘era’ now just just want to ban them for those yet to be born or under 10 etc.
Fair enough, just stick to black and white and non Dolby / non imax movies.
The original movies still exist. Any reason we can't watch those?
@rebelinsteel Most remakes suck compared to the original as the originality of a remake has taken a dump. 💩💩 Most are real turkeys. 🦃
They will always go for a formula that worked before over trying something new and original. There are a lot of remakes of movies that were good the first time around and never should have been redone. The people managing the money are not creative types.
Which is not all bad as creative types tend to be terrible at managing money.
I guess Hollywood like any place has its leaders and maybe the leaders are either genuinely giving the audience's what they want or they're often unsure themselves or I don't know what quite is the root cause of the issue then hmm 🧐🤔🧐🤔
they have run out of ideas.
Before movies were based on great writing, story and acting.
Now it seems that more are just special effects.
Yawn.
They're not as clever as they like to think they are and just keep rehashing the same old shit promising bigger and better and hoping you'll swallow their bullshit!
same reason people go to Chilis or Applebees instead of locally owned restaurants or listen to cover bands instead of original music: they are playing it safe and don't like to experience new and different or at least take a chance on it
It happens in music too, everything is recycled to death.
They're running out of ideas, but hey, that was actually a good movie, except for the stupid ending which I don't want to ruin for those who haven't seen it yet
Because the average person has a monopoly on youtube, so hollywood gets stuck with scrap
Hollywood is run by people with the mind of a 14-year-old (generously), so they attempt to appeal to chronological 14-year-old potential movie goers.
They are all a bunch of woke weirdos who lack any creativity and care more about indoctrinating people than entertaining them.
Because Hollywood is full and can't eat any more.
Because they sacrifice their best and brightest and exalt the idiot sons of their assholes
because people keep paying for it
Out of ideas.
Because it's safe.
“Being creative is hard.” 🙄
Because it makes them money.
Safe money
I know, right?
