Maybe. Maybe he thought he was gay. He’s very disappointed and upset when he finds out ”Ping” is actually a woman. I understand being angry that she manipulated her way into the army, but his reaction seemed more… personal. Maybe he was confused about the fact that he had now fallen in love with a woman, when he thought he was into men.

Or he was just mad she lied to him, and he’s straight and wouldn’t have fallen in love with her if she had really been a man. I don’t remember there being any signs of him being gay or ever interested in any men other than Ping, so if he was really gay then why didn’t he have any interest in other men before but suddenly when a woman comes around he falls for her even when she’s disguised as a man. Put of all the men in the army he falls for the woman. She doesn’t really look, act or sound overly masculine even when trying so maybe he was consciously or unconsciously picking up on her femininity and fell for that. Maybe he started questioning his sexuality when he noticed himself kind of crushing on a ”guy” and then got mad when he figured out it was a woman because she put him through the whole questioning his sexuality thing.

It reminds me of this episode of Futurama - Leela went into the military disguised as a man and her ex became very sexually confused around her. I remember him being very relieved when she ended up being a woman lmao.
