Has anyone read Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen?

I have been trying to get into classic literature recently and this novel was high up on the list so I thought it would be a good pick.

I actually read it in college in 2010 but I didn’t really appreciate it or put effort into understanding it at the time.

There is a lot of subtly that I missed back when I first read it, and the early 19th century language was hard to understand.

I’m just at the point where Elizabeth goes to see her sick sister at a residence where her future love interest is staying. The subtle interaction tells you there is something below the surface.

Honestly I don't know, I haven't watched that one! I've been meaning to but just haven't gotten around to it

I think I’ll watch different adaptations after finishing the book.

My suggestion is always to watch the film adaptions first. At least for me, if I read the book and then watch the movie then I'm usually annoyed about something in the movie that wasn't quiet consistent with the book. But I never feel that way if I do it in reverse

I worry watching the movie would spoil the story because the most authentic way to know the story is usually through the book.

@RyanEC I would like to suggest Jane Austen's Emma, probably my favorite of Austen, and is very funny in addition. Then, a more modern writer is Georgette Heyer, an English novelist and short-story writer, in both the Regency romance and detective fiction genres. She wrote in the early 1900s and is, in my opinion the best of the best in the Regency genre. Any of hers are a delight and I have read them all! Good reading to you!
