That's definitely tough. We had a Golden retriever growing up and she was so laid back and peaceful. I loved her. I like maltese, my friend has one and she's adorable, her dog, well she is as well. I kind of love all dogs really.

  German Shepherd Dogs (American show, german show/working, german working lines), Golden Retriever (Canadian working lines), Doberman (German/Holland x), Manchester terriers (toy/pure)
  
  It's more about specific lines per breed, titles and health certs matter in my line of work.
  
  A number of lines in some of these breeds suffer a lot of health and or mental issues so heavy research is key.

  There are several others I enjoy too but their health is so poor I don't have the heart to take them on. Their life expectancies are 5 years at best these days.

I love dogs, but not based on breed, more so by how they've been trained. One or two of my friends' dogs are neurotic because they've been trained as guard dogs. (despite my objections)

  Tbh. When a kid my neighbor had a husky and ideky but they always had this look that scared me. I remember i was like 6 or 7 and thinking why he look so evil. And he was very mean.
  So i kinda never wanted anything to do with one after that.

My wife loves Golden Retrievers - to the point she's talking about becoming a registered breeder of them.

Personally I love the gentle giants - Irish Wolfhound and Great Dane.
