I, for one, am!. If I could have my physical and mental abilities enhanced to the degree of that character, I would have done it in a heart beat. I watched The Bourne Legacy" with Jeremy Renner last evening for about the 10th time and never get tired of watching Jeremy Renner and Rachael Weise play their roles so well, and probably end up being lovers at the end, but the directors and producers did not show that, and it added to the 'romantic' electricity between the two.
At one point, Weise's character asked him WHY he wanted to retain his 'enhancements' (this was after Renner 'lost his "chems" crossing the mountains to a secluded retreat to meet with another enhanced member of the enhanced clic group. Renner had already had his 'physical' enhancements permanently incorporated in his body with a Virus, that his medical team had done. (No more taking pills to be superman)
I ask the question, because, as most or all of you know, this kind of thing will happen, NOT maybe in our lifetimes, but at some point with the 'cloning" AI achievements etc etc. medical science will be able to develop the human specimen with the superior physical abilities, and enhanced mental facilities, and that MAY COME ABOUT WITH THE ONGOING RESEARCH TO CURE MANY NEURO-MUSCULAR DISEASES THAT PLAGUE THE HUMAN RACE LIKE PARKINSON'S DISEASE, ALS, and many diseases that paralyze the nervous system.
Renner's character said that to get into the army, the recruiter had to ADD 12 points to his IQ to MEET THE MINIMUM IQ REQUIREMENTS, and he did not want to lose his mental ability, by going off his "meds" and wanted to have it "locked in" if Weise could do it for him.
Would you want to be a Jeremy Renner - BOURNE character, if you could? I would do it without a second thought.
Women could do it too in the film... thoughts to ponder.
I THINK ROBERT LUDLUM WAS ONTO SOMETHING HERE.
