For the musically educated, part two: Who is your favourite guitarist out of these masters?

I'm glad you didn't ask who is the best.
Out of those, I pick Martin Barre just because I like him a lot.
But Gilmore is pure tasty. I prefer that over shredding.
And Howe is a superlative musician.
Al DiMeola!
Elegant Gypsy is one of my all-time favorite albums
Thanks for MHO!

I don't know who some of them are. Some of the rest are not a style I'm into. That leaves a pretty short list. So I'll go with Gilmore. I like Zappa also, but he's not someone I will just kick back and listen to in the background - which is a requisite.
By the way, Yes/Steve Howe was the last "real" concert I went to. That was a LONG time ago. Everything since then has been out-of-date old timers playing small free concerts. Not that those concerts were bad, just the opposite. They were just not full size large venue concerts.
The only one I heard of was Frank Zappa and being an outstanding guitarist was never something he was known for. I have been a Leo Kottke fan for many years. He is coming through town in October and I hope to see him perform.

I was amused to hear Leo say in this video that guitars work better when they're in tune.
Being a 12-string guitar player myself, I gotta say, tongue somewhat in cheek, that there is no such thing as a 12-string guitar actually ever being in tune.
Thanks for posting the video.
It's been some time since I've heard Leo's mastery of the guitar.
Cheers.
Dave Gilmore - Purely from this list
But Angus Young , is by far the most under rated , an incredible talent , and great style and ability , but of course all those guys are incredible.
Adrian Bellow is great. Robert Tripp is also talented. Some of m, y favorites are Eric Johnson, Tommy Emmanuelle ( acoustic but fantastic), Zappa is no longer w/ us and Belew appeared on a few of his albums Steve Howe did some good stuff with the band Yes. I think you're missing the real genius of guitar, Jimi Hendrix.
Out of these? Hmm
Gilmour <3 , Zappa, Howe.
I really want to add Jimy Hendrix & Slash too!
@nikki1989
The only ones that I've really heard of is David Gilmore, Steve Hackett and Frank Zappa.
So I hope you don't mind if I add my own two favourites... Mark Knopfler and Slash.
@nikki1989
I quite simply couldn't agree more with you.
From the list I would go with Alex Liefson and Gilmour. For me I would go with Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Rory Gallagher, Ritchie Blackmore,
How 'bout Robin Trower?
@handsomelad70 not heard of him
Great British guitarist of the 60's and 70's.(You're not 71, that's why you've never heard of him.)
@handsomelad70 Robin Trower, definitely.
Good mention, man.
Alan Collins (Lynyrd Skynyrd)
Don Felder/Joe Walsh (Eagles)
Jimmy Paige (Led Zeppelin)
From that list, my favs are Fripp and Zappa, but my fav is not on the list: Jeff Beck
How are Jimi Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen not on that list 🧐🤔
Ahh gotcha, thought you basically just found the list instead of creating your own.
Look forward to seeing your upcoming editions 👍
I go back a bit further. Hank Marvin for me, closely followed by Mark Knopfler
Gee you know how to cause some problems don't you little lady, I'd say Gilmore's my favourite I barely know the rest they definitely invented some stuff way back when..
I'll say Gilmour, but only because Joe Perry isn't up there. Don't get me wrong... I'm not saying Perry is one of the greatest ever... but I NEVER see him mentioned on things like this, and he deserves to be part of the conversation, if nothing else.
Of those, Alex Lifeson.
But I gotta give an honorable mention to Joe Satriani
None of these people now if your talking about rock and roll guitar players then Angus from AC/DC or ZZ top
ZZ top isn't just a basic riff guitar player in any way they literally invented the spinning electric guitar, and they are one of the greatest guitar players to ever hold a electric guitar. The guitar players you showed in the pictures they're in relevant never even heard of them
Actually I'm going to have to look them up because I think I might know a few of them
Yeah I wouldn't consider any of them I just look them all up only one legitimately hits my radar and I wouldn't consider him a good guitar player the band he is in is a tiny bit legendary but I wouldn't even say it's rock and roll and that's the first pic he is from Pink Floyd
For me its Jimmy Hendricks shocked he isn't up there
Umm, difficult question, but steve howe.
Of those choices, David Gilmore
Slash from Guns and Roses.
DavidGilmour
Gilmour and Howe
Jimi Hendrix, you didn’t mention him
I'll definitely go with frank zappa
gilmour is the classiest in my opinion
Frank Zappa
David Gilmour.
Zappa
Zappa...
Robert Fripp
