Also, Glenn Cornick was amazing. After he left Jethro Tull, he formed a band called Wild Turkey that featured him. I went to see them. I never witnessed bass playing like that in my life.

I studied "The Works" album as part of my music exam course in 1988. They stayed true to their roots all through the 80s right up to Freddie's death, albeit with changes in how some was expressed.

I can't think of any other group that had as much influence on modern music, pop, rock and progressive. Freddie could sing anything from opera to hard rock equally well.

He incorporated musical quotes from operatic pieces into rock songs and executed the performances flawlessly, recording right up to hours before he passed.

"Innuendo" was hardly Pop. Neither was "Hammer to Fall". Mainstream pop ended up following where they went. Even Michael Jackson was influenced by their innovations.

My favourite bassist is Mark King from Level 42. Not what you would call out and out Rock, but he transferred his skills as a drummer to create a slap bass.
